Last night a nice package was waiting for me at home from shaving.ie: Dr Harris Marblorough and GFT Rose. The order was placed the previous Friday so 6 business days from the Ireland is not bad at all.

Had my first shave with it this morning. Usual hot shower prep. I used my Tradere SB with a new Gilltte black blade. Brush was my Whippeddog silvertip.

Lathering: super easy and tons of lather. In fact, no other cream I have tried was so easy to lather.

Skin protection: top notch. same league as GFT, which is for me the best so far. I have a rather rough beard. The bristles were softened well and the razor just mowed through without any effort.

How skin feels afterwards? also great, same as GFT.

Scent: Product description says Cedarwood and Sandalwood. I'd say the cedarwood portion is more pronounced and the sandalwood is much more subtle. Nothing like AOS' Sandalwood, which I didn't care for much.

Conclusion:
I like it a lot as a cream. The scent... hmm... while it is not my favorite, my wife says it is the best one in my den which puts it in it's own category doesn't it?

In comparison to my other creams, it is on par with GFT which I regard higher than TOBS and Proraso.

That's a very helpful review. I had somehow gotten the impression that Marlborough had tobacco notes in it.

I don't get any straight tobacco notes, but it is very reminiscent of walking into the humidor at your local tobacconist. I love that pungent mixture of wood and cured tobacco.

+1...I love how complex the scent of the soap is. It is like camping but with some complex fougere in there as well...like smoking salmon with Cracked Juniper Berries in the middle of a lavender field...I keep sniffing it expecting to smell something different!

Would you mind if I use that as my scent description? Biggrin I would of course give you credit.

Well, this thread has certainly opened my mind to the idea of picking some of this up. Smoke, juniper, even new tobacco all sound nice.

I was worried it would be like Nomad and its "dirty ashtrays and old women" scent.

I never tried Nomad's "old ashtrays and dirty women" scent... hmm...

Anyway, it is a pretty classy scent.

I get a dirty ashtray scent from mine - very cedarwood'ish, but I keot it for a while, because it performs so well. In the end gave in and sold it.
Now have these 3 DR Harris creams in my den:

Arlington
Windsor
Almond

My favorite cream by far, the performance is aces across the board, better glide and cushion than TOBS creams, IMO. I get the dirty ashtray scent as well, but for whatever reason, it works.

I had the soap which had a strong cedar scent which stuck with me for hours afterwards. Too strong for me. The only Harris cream I have used recently is Windsor and I am hooked on that one. I think Harris now makes some excellent creams which are as good as their soap.
