If you remember this thread , from a while ago : shavemac finest badger "hybrid" shaped brush. , you know that I did order a finest badger with a fan shaped knot , and that was the brush I got.Well , I did crossed some emails with Bernd (shavemac's owner) to see if that fan shaped could become even more "fan shaped" , and not so "hybrid shaped" , as many pointed , and this is the result :

As you can see , the knot has now a very fan shaped , and boy , let me tell you , I thought that the hybrid shaped brush was great , this one is even better ! Well done for shavemac indeed.

This brush has the same measures of the other brush I got like 1 1/2 months ago from shavemac :
  • 23 mm knot
  • 50 mm loft
  • 50 mm handle lenght
  • 100 mm total height
which its perfect for me , specially for facelathering , as I do like.

The handle shaped is another excellent shavemac's creation , very sturdy , easy and comfortable to hold and classy elegant.I should have got it on black this time , but anyway , Im happy about how it is.

shavemac's finest is silvertip badger hair for me : the tips , while arent as white as the regular silvertip or the D01 silvertip , are extra soft and I truly enjoy that a lot.

Due to the fan shaped knot , the hair density and the "lower" loft , and the soft tips , this brush feels fantastic on the face , and you can feel , actually , the whole badger wall of hair on your face , while using it with circular strokes , something that with the bulb shaped you can't fully experienced , and with the hybrid shaped , just a portion of it.

Check the hair density of this brush :

Its a medium/high density , which allows to make lather very quick and not a lather hog at all.

Its firmess is nice for a 3 band badger hair brush , not the highest and very far away from being a "mop" or "floppy".Also , has a very nice blooming , once have been wet.

Here a pic with the hybrid knot shaped brush , after a couple uses :

The brush tackles triple milled shaving soaps (I shaved with a Geo F Trumper Sandalwood soap today) with ease , no problem at all.Nice !

And as I said , simply feels "right" on the face : not an extreme wall of badger , like a shavemac D01 silvertip will feel , but either a floppy , "mop style" brush , but just right in firmess , flow and softness of tips. And for a price under many silvertip hair brushes out there.

Here is a shavemac D01 silvertip :

I was very pleased with the shavemac hybrid fan shaped brush , but now Im very happy. Thanks to Bernd and shavemac , who always want to go the extra mile to provide an excellent service to the customers : I wanted something , and they truly have provided it ! Vielen Dank !!!

Another great review Teiste.

I'm loving the look of the brush - I prefer fans to bulbs and the brush looks to be bang on the money. Smile

Very nice brush, I never considered finest badger from shavemac before because I never got the chance to experience the difference with the silver tip myself. I might try one in the near future.

Go to the Shavemac website at http://www.shavemac.com. Then on the upper right hand corner, in the search block, put in Experts Select. This will take you to a page where you can configure a custom brush. Among other options, you can select a bulb, fan or flat top knot.
