I absolutely LOVE TOP.  I've seen them more times than I can count.  Turned by young teenage son onto them.  Such an amazing band.  First started listening back in the last 70's.  I have to say I'm a little disappointed they couldn't get Lenny for this album.  Pickett pretty much is as critical to TOP's sound as Garibaldi is.  I realize he's been busy with SNL and he actually was doing his own thing a couple years ago.  I was lucky enough to catch Lenny with his own band at The Jazz Standard in NYC.  Took my son and met some old childhood friends.  Lenny is one of my all-time favorite sax players right along with Brecker, Coltrane, Kirk, Shorter and Bird.  Thanks for posting this.  I hadn't heard it before.

I haven't listened to Tower of Power for a long time. I need to fix that.

Early in college (1974), I became a good friend of the sister of ToP's "manager," whose last name was Chernowski. Whenever ToP came to Minneapolis, we got the VIP treatment. Awesome times.

Sorry to obsess with this thread. It's awesome to see so many references to NPR's Tiny Desk series. My music radio station is an NPR member, and I couldn't be more pleased about the support. Thanks, all.

John, as I peruse this thread with interest, I'm impressed with both your presence and your taste for music that deserves to be heard. We'll have to chat about music when we have coffee next weekend...

Sounds good.  I really don't know very much about music, but I know what I like - which includes a lot of different types.

Super. I recall hearing the original by Blind Faith and bought the album immediately. My favorite to play on guitar. Yvonne Elliman's versions are nice too.

Listening to a very bad cassette recording of Mrs. Robinson performed by these three at an outdoor bar venue in 2015.  Left to right:  My son's friend Mark, my son Ben on drums, and me on bass.
