I loaded a new Gillette SharpEdge into my '60 Gillette Tech, shaved with some Williams soap and my trusty Omega boar brush, and finished it off with some Aqua Velva. Think I'll knock back a cold PBR with tonight's dinner.

Simple. Inexpensive. The way my Grandpa used to do it.

And whatever dinner is, it should be cooked with plenty of bacon grease that was stored in a coffee can.

You're implying that there is another way to cook dinner.

What did I write? Thanks. I absolutely need to proofread, but I was in a hurry and after teaching a husband and wife class today I was wiped out.

Back to the thread though...

The only time I ever saw my dad shaving with a blade he was using a Gillette (I think) of some type, a mug of Williams and had, I know now, terrible frothy lather. Probably carbon steel blades too that were probably old and microrusted. It was so unusual, that I asked him about it, since he always used an electric. He told me "to keep the memory of what his Dad used", alive. I don't think I ever saw him use a blade again. I suspect he never had anyone who taught him how to blade shave either. So of course he couldn't teach me.

Mine would have asked me why I have so much stuff for shaving. He just used some sort of Gillette (probably the cheapest one he could find or a hand me down from his grandpa), cheap blades, a tube of Palmolive brushless, or the cheapest canned caca he could find.

In his younger wilder years, he thought if he saved money on cheap shave gear; he would have more money to go to the bars.
