Temptation got the better of me and I left my store carrying a Merkur Progress. After rediscovering the 34C, I have high hopes for this little odd ball razor. I liked it when I owned it and cannot remember why I sold it off. Huh

I've been debating one (and the futur) for months now, given how much I love adjustable razors. Maybe, we shall see...

The Progress is an excellent razor. Simplicity at its finest and you can completely break it down for cleaning with ease.

A couple owner based knob modifications are...1. Wood stain 2. Plastic model paint..3. Shoe polish 4. fabric dye 5. Hair dye. and possibly heat shrink if you can use very little heat because of the plastic underneath. However after a while you get use to the Ivory color and in honesty it is not that bad...the razor is great. I have a Mergress standard,a Ikon knob long,an unused BRW standard knob ,and original first production and a back-up standard...what is not to like...shaves great, relatively inexpensive and easy to use and clean.SmileCool

I bought a Progress 2 weeks ago and have been experimenting with it, I like the shaves it gives me and the weight of the razor. Hope you rediscover the razor and have many great shaves.

My favourite adjustable razor, by far. I like it so much more than any of my adjustable Gillettes... It just shaves better!

YMMV, as always...

I love these. I have a short handle Mergress and a long progress.

It would be my desert island shaver.

Great feedback from the blade and it shaves with minimal irritation, if any at all.

I have to thank Billy for urging me to revisit the Merkur Progress. After one shave I can honestly say, "I love this razor!". I have no idea why I sold my previous Progress.

Because you are suffering from R.A.D and like the rest of us we are searching for the "ultimate instrument"....and then you can be the "Master of the Shave"....open a business and make millions of dollarsTongue(also fills up empty space in the bathroom and allows men to have something of their own) and like men the world over we rise up and shout "stay the hell away from my shaving tools!!!!!"

The Merkur Progress is my favorite adjustable. I sent mine to Eric Meier for the "upgrade." I have the short handle and wouldn't want it any other way. I have owned a Futur but far prefer the Progress. The adjustment mechanism is easier and safer on the Progress, and I have developed a routine with it, whereby I change the level of aggressiveness for different parts of my shave. What a fantastic shaver!
