Klar Seifen is a german company which have been making soaps since 1840.
This Klar Kabinett soap was developed for barbers and it comes with two blocks of shaving soaps of 250 grams each (500 grams in total)

I find a little bit strange than a baber soap has a such a "strange" form, but I guess that maybe the barbers used it as a big shaving stick or just grated it into containers, since this is a hard, tipple milled soap,I would say.

It has a simple formulation, with sterates and coconut oil.I wonder if this is a 100% vegetal based soap or if the Potasium/Sodium Sterate comes from animal fat (tallow).

This soap has a rosy scent, not the one which its really strong and powdery, like the british shaving soaps/creams,but more herbal and fresh. Its also not overpowering, but it last during the shave.Nice, but not the best out there either.

And what about the lather?Well, this soap can create a really thick, slick lather,no doubt about it.Two pics with the Semogue LE 2101,the first one after palm lathering and the second one after facelathering :

As you can see, looks like tallow based shaving soap lather,or at least to me it does. However,I find this soap a little bit drying for me,but I have really dry skin, specially in winter. If you have normal or even greasy skin, this soap would be good then.

A nice, medium class (for me),german soap, and also cheap, since 500 grams could cost less than 20 bucks and the soap would last years.

Ah yes, the Klar Kabinett soap. I used to carry it and it was a great seller. The problem was in importing it from Germany (extremely expensive). If I had a warehouse and could import this by sea, I'd be all over it.

I have tried this and agree that it feels like tallow. The scent was just ok for me and I decided to do an English rose cream instead.

Two gentlemen from another forum PIF'd me some of this great soap awhile back and I try to use it every two weeks or so. I have enough to last a few years at the rate I'm using it.

Just a wonderful German soap.

I did not care much for the scent either and when I had a large shipment of it, it would scent the room.

What a great soap! Good thing I love the scent too Smile
As far as the "barber" side of it, I saw a video once showing a barber shave some where in the Middle East where the barber had a "stick" of soap that resembled a tall light bulb. He held onto the skinny side and loaded the brush straight from the wider bulb side. The Kabinett seems like just the right consistency to to that with. Not too soft that it would fall apart, but soft enough to mold. Mash down one end of the large stick and shape it more or less into a bulb shape.

Tieste - have you reviewed the Klar Seifen Classic soap (as opposed to Kabinett)? I am wondering how the two compare.

Teiste did review the Klar Sandalwood, which is the same formulation as the Classic. You can see that review here

Ill find the really similar to each other, maybe the Klar Seifen Sandalwood a little bit more slick than this one. Also the scents are very different to each other, one its sweet and woody (sandalwood) and the other its kind of fresh and herbal (rose).

I absolutely love this soap. The Klar Seifen beats it out by a little bit, but it is actually much more expensive. I was lucky to grab some from Phil when he carried it. It's one of my top 5

One of my favorite soaps in an 'over-all' way ... in that it doesn't do any one thing at the top of any list, but it does a bunch of things well. Good scent, lathers well, price efficient, provides an excellent shave, etc.

Kabinett shaved very well for me, I just did not get along with the scent. It made up a great lather that was rich and slick, it just smelled rose hand soap.

Phil sent me a sample of this soap over a year ago and I'm still enjoying it. It shaves well and I like it's light and clean rose scent.

I would like to try it someday but don't really need a huge 500g block. If anyone would like make a purchase and sell me an unused 100g or block send me a PM. I'm in the USA.

It is very inexpensive ($20 for 500g) so there is not much risk. You could always buy it and sell off the excess.

These are big bars, and will last quite a while. I think it's actually cheaper than williams per gram

Phil, even though you stopped carrying this I'm glad to see you got Dr. Dittmar. It's in my top 3
