I've discovered ( I call it a discovery anyway :p ) a fantastic cologne splash called Murray and Lanman's Florida Water. Notes of citrus, Clove, rose.... Actually pretty complex stuff. It originated in Cuba. I mix it with witch Hazel, which makes an amazing after shave! Anyone else try this or know of it?

Historically is one of the earliest scents that is still available. Yes, it is nice and mild.

Yes, it's been around a while, introduced by New York perfumer Robert Murray over 200 years ago, it is a spicier version of the traditional Eau de Cologne developed in Klon Germany a century earlier.

The company that emerged as Murray & Lanman called their product "Florida Water" after the fabled fountain of youth sought in Florida by the Spanish explorer Don Juan Ponce de Leon in the year 1513.

It's a true cologne in the 4711 style and can be used for anything from aftershave to body wash. Also very affordable.

I love Florida Water! I have not used it as an aftershave, yet, but it has a very nice spicy and citrus scent that is long lasting. I enjoy it most after about an hour and the citrus has faded and the spice dominates. It isn't overpowering and is one of those complex scents that make you stop and smell yourself every now and again.

I love it too. I even have the bath soap version.

Warning: the Kananga water from the same company is NOT even in the same league.

How would you describe their KW? I've considered trying it since I love the FW. By not in the same league, are you referring to the scent or the quality of the product?

I ordered a huge AS order from Drugstore.com that has this in it. After reading impressions here, cannot wait to try it.

Used it for the first time this morning after a sniff test yesterday. Really enjoyable and a nice light citrus scent to me. Good burn (I enjoy the alcohol burn) and even the wife said it smelled nice. Thanks for the recommendations Gentleman

@Rabid....the Murray and Lanman website offers the FW in different sizes and they also offer a GLASS BOTTLE. The price is reasonable as well. The web address for their site is on the bottle. Thought I'd pass that on Smile

After reading the website, I don't think they've changed their ad copy since 1897. Smile
