Used each of these blades in my Merkur Progress set on 3.0. Kent BK8 brush, Proraso original cream. 2 and out for the blades.
SI gave a smooth close shave no nicks nor irritation. Silver Blues gave a closer shave. Still smooth with no problems. Feather gave the closest shave but with some nicks and minor irritation.
Will try the same comparison using my EJDE89L.
Any similar experiences?

you mean the blades only lasted for 2 shaves each for you?

I make it a rule to toss them after 2 shaves. I have no idea how many I could get. Blade longevity is not an issue for me.

Wow, my SIs last me 5-6! i can not even imagine throwing them out after only two shaves.
i find the SIs to be the best overall blade for me. Good luck with the experiment.

Keep us posted on your experiment. All three are excellent blades.

I find blades improve after a couple of shaves, especially the Feathers, but then their decline is rapid. Gillette Blues (ruskies) seem to last and last. Gillette Super Thins (Thai) are also a great blade, and cheap too. I love them.

I just had my first shave w/ a Polsilver SI. I should have stopped after 3 shaves. Shave #4 was too tuggy. That's still a dime a shave. More expensive by far than an Astra but also cheaper by far than a cartridge.

The Gillette Dark Blues are very nice blade indeed, great longevity, and deliver a smooth shave... I just wish they were sharper.... They deliver better shaves than Red Pack IP's and Astra for me, because they're sharper, but just as smooth....

As for sharper blades, Kai/Feather and Rapira, are amazing, I would say SI fits somewhere in between these and the other blades I mentioned, they're not quite as sharp as the more aggressive blade, and not quite as smooth as say Gillette Dark blues; they also don't last very long for me.

As always YMMV.
For me:
1.- Feathers. Smoot and sharp.
2.- Super Iridium = PolsilverSI. . A bit less.

Seven shaves out of each blade.

I get 5-6 shaves on every blade that makes my rotation . SIs are fairly new for me and I so far find them well above average. I just got some Silver Blues and have yet to try them - should be interesting. As for Feathers, we've never been good friends - they leave my face feeling a bit too "raw".

How did you find the Silver Blues, TB? I am very curious to know what people think of them. I love the 7 O'Clock dark blue Ruskies, but have no idea how they compare to the SBs.

Well jazz, I agree with not using a blade more than a couple of times. My beard is pretty tough. However, my favorite 2 blades are SI and Feather. Both are comperably priced. Each has their favorite razors. To me the Feather is pretty smooth.

Just my humble opinion.

Has anyone yet compared the Gillette SBs with the 7 O'Clock Dark Blues?

Shaun, I don't think this thread includes the DB. But I do believe Freddy loves this blade.

Ah, ok; I am sure that somewhere in this site there was a thread asking if anyone had compared; I thought it was here; I'll be more attentive in future, thanks.

Shaun, please don't take offense. As I recall the DB is one of Freddys favorite blades.

For that matter, don't be shy. Open your question in a thread. Maybe something like "what is your favorite Gillette..."

I'd be curious.

No offense taken Bob, no problem. The DB is also my favourite blade, but seeing as they may be becoming scarce and the Silver Blues are available, I was wondering how they compare. I also like the Thins very much indeed, plus they are very cheap, comparatively.
