Gents,

Harvey informed me that there has been some interest in the newly redesigned Parker Razor 3 piece DE Heads. I thought I'd post some pictures of one of mine for your examination. They're beauties and really shave well! I would classify them as "moderately aggressive". Not the animal that a Merkur Slant would be, but still capable of commanding serious respect from even the most fearsome beard Wink
Unfortunately, all but this photo were too heavy to attach Sad[attachment=12059]

When I get more time, I'll post more pics with slightly lower resolution

Nice looking razor. It appears the 48R is being sold at Super Safety Razors but no mention that the head is new.

I don,t think some of the vendors are even aware that Parker made this change and as well they never update the factory pictures. All I can say is that of my 11 Parker razors...7 of which are TTO,s the last 2 I got have newer...better heads and after I got the first one I ordered another in a different handle to have my usual backup.I,m speaking of the 3 piece....maybe Cadet and Parker are the same company or one of them is copying the other. It is the bottom plate that is different...not the handle or the top plate...just the bottom plate!!!!

That looks very much like my Cadet razor head, right down to the slanted grooves in the safety bar.

I'd already noticed some of the more decorative handles are very similar.

Coincidence, or connection?

According to some sources Parker & Cadet are separate companies but who really knows? The owner of Super Safety Razors is the distributor for all Parker razors in the US and you would think if the head is new he would mention it on his website. Parker razors have improved greatly over the years and they are all quality made.

My 96R was my first DE purchase. Still in my rotation and is one of my top 5 DE's.

According to the US distributor
1.The new heads are being sent to dealers but they are actually milder then the current heads.

2. Parker & Cadet are totally separate companies.

I would call them smoothly effective and noticeably better and probably similar to the Cadet design. At any rate another good value. As well both companies seem to be adding color and some pazazz to the razorsSmileCool

Nice looking razor. The handle looks similar to a Matador.

Very similar...wouldn,t be surprised if the two companies share the same manufacturing plant and swap parts...just have different marketing divisions...look at all the razors coming out of India and sold under different names but they all shave alike and look the same????? We are razor experts and it is hard to fool us.HuhHuhHuh

According to the US distributor of Parker razors the two companies are not connected with one another. However, copying styles is nothing new.

Time will tell...the US Distributor has probably never been to the factory...and in fact it doen,t even matter....they are both GOOD razors, well made and quite reasonable. Remember how the Merkur OC and the Muhle OC used the exact same head several years ago...only the handle was different.....so NO BIG DEAL!!!!!!!!!

Just out of curiosity, did they update their TTO head as well or just the 3 piece. I ordered a Parker 22R as my first razor about 4 years ago and couldn't have been more turned of from Parker at that point. The razor was terrible, having flaws from blade alignment to handle alignment. Of course now all I use are # piece DEs and SE razors.

The 3 newer Parker TTO,s I have are better made than the earlier models and are good shavers...but the Cadets are more aggresively efficient so perhaps the Parkers will modify theirs as well to compete shall we say...I have a razor I won in a contest by Dr.Dittmar but it says " COX " on the bottom...it was a prototype...seems like a Parker to me except for the handle design which is almost exactly like the Cadets...suspicious to me.Huh

I would agree that the newer Parker TTO's seem to have much fewer quality issues than the ones from a few years ago
