I've been a fan of Mike's Natural Soaps for quite a while now - ordered my first soaps from him almost a year ago - but writing up a review is hard simply because it's near impossible to do the soap justice.

I'll admit it up front; Mike's Natural Soap is one of my favorite soaps - if not THE favorite. Part of it is the pure performance - great glide, great cushion, don't leave me dry... but part of it is also that all of Mike's soaps performs the same. It don't matter if it's his Orange, Cedarwood & Black Pepper or his Barbershop - they are all good. Apart from the scent they might as well be one large soap - it's just that consistent.

Whipping up some lather with Mike's soaps is easy as pie for me - soak the brush, swirl over the soap for twenty, thirty seconds before switching to the bowl and building the lather for real. The latherbuilding is also where the scent really gets released; and while some of the samples I ordered from Mike's isn't my favorites, he has several really good ones - I think my favorite might be his Orange, Cedarwood and Black Pepper soap, which reminds me of orange soda...

Since I put in my first order, Mike has started selling his soaps in tins as well as twist-up shave sticks. They work as well as the bars, but with the added bonus of not having to provide your own container to keep the puck in.

Mike's Natural Soaps gives a great shave and wont leave your face dry. It also comes in a great many fragrances, and Mike's samples are most generous if you want to try several. What's not to like?

Hans,
Agree with you on all points.

Barbershop is my favorite followed by Orange, Cedarwood and Black Pepper.

Love the smell as well as the all-around performance of these soaps. The price is more than reasonable too.

Jeff

I think the orange/cedar/pepper is his flagship scent. I love it, but his lime..!

I agree on the performance. Dense, super slick stuff. It's a thirsty soap, and I usually get better results when I load with a wet brush.

+1.

Mike's is one of my top 3 soaps, his Hungarian Lavender (my favorite) is a really great, unique scent.

Mike's Natural is one of my favorites too.

Barbershop has a great scent and the Hungarian Lavender is fantastic.

I find it easy to lather, always face lathering
, mostly loading the soap and building a good pro-lather right on top of the puck. I then paint on to a wet face, building lather by dipping brush tips in water a few times.

Semogue 1250 or 1800 + Mike's Natural = Heaven

Gentlemen, I have used scores of artisan soaps and creams. Most have disappointed. Mike's natural soaps, however, are a pleasant surprise in their overall quality. The gentleman is an artist. Good show, Mike. I fancy the barbershop scent in his lineup.

I wonder if Mike is sitting in Brooklyn wondering why his ears are so hot?

(Or sneezing uncontrollably if he's an anime fan, I suppose.)

I like Mike's. The scents are great. Not as easy to build up a lather as DRH, but worth the extra effort.

Been meaning to do a writeup and may get around to it one day.

Excellent review. Excellent soap. You're gonna make me have to get out my Lavandin/Eucalyptus soap and use it. Can't wait to get another one of his scents.

I love Mike's. I only have the Barbershop scent, but it's my favorite soap. It is the best thing for my face and never leaves irritation.
