I recently acquired a Vie-Long Beehive and V-L Petree from Bullgoose. Both are Limited Edition in Silvertip. These are brushes made especially for Phil and I have to say he (and Vie-Long of course) did an absolutely superb job on them.

If you are looking for beautifully soft hair and phenomenal flow-through - I'd recommend investigating them while they're still available. He also has options in 2-band but I have only tried these.

I'd have to rank them as neck and neck with some of the recent Old Style Rooney releases by Classic Shaving as best deal of the year. These brushes are second to none in my opinion as far as 3-band goes. they're not quite as dense as the Rooneys but they are every bit as good.

The Petree is slightly smaller and also has a disproportionally shorter loft. As a result I think it has a bit more scrub than the Beehive. But there is no scritch with either and both have ample backbone. They are luxurious and fantastic with both soaps and creams.

Wanted to pass along my thoughts because I'm so enamored. As always though, YMMV.

Two beauties for sure.

My only gripe with Vie Long is that their labeling on the handles seems to get rubbed off way too easily. Sounds petty, but I think its something that they should look into.

Fine acquisitions there sir... The knots on the Beehive LE's, in either Silvertip or 2 band from what I've seen and heard, are completely up my alley... Unfortunately I simply can't get past the Beehive handle but I seem to be in the minority in that respect since it's a handle style that is beloved by many long time wet shavers. Enjoy and thanks for sharing!

Thanks.

I was never drawn to the Beehive style either until I tried a Rooney and was pleasantly surprised at how ergonomic it was.

FWIW the Petree handle is one of the best I've used and the knot isn't dissimilar to the Beehive.
