I'm just curious if anyone here knows whether or not a Schick injector razor can have its handle removed and replaced with a custom handle? If it can/has been done, then I'd appreciate a bit more information on the process.

Thanks!

I've never heard of it being done but it's a very interesting idea.

I think it depends on which model you start with. Some have a simple shaft glued inside of the handle (early models) while some use a flat metal shank that is molded and glued to the handle (later models). I had a head fall out of one of the bakelite models, but gave up the idea of a custom handle because the head was in poor condition. The only drawback to the injector razor is that they are made of thin stamped sheet metal and most are gold in color which, to me, makes it very hard to imagine it ever becoming a "classy" looking razor.

My memory was off,it was over at TSD
Not the demensions I'd choose but here ya go:

It belongs to TSD Member: stingraysrock

Here's what he said:

So anyway, awhile back, OldAf posted about how He Is The Injector Killer and had broken the handles off a few razors. This got me to thinking about how Rudy Vey has delivered several beautiful brushes to TSD members...so I thought; what can Rudy do for me?

The result my friends, is my very own Rudy Vey Custom Schick Injector G!

I bought an Injector G (which is arguably the best shaving injector) on fleabay for $4.00, Dremeled the handle off and sent the razor head to Rudy, requesting a handle to be turned and set on to the head in my favorite color, which is purple, and this is what he did for me!

Sweet!

It is lumpy and bumpy and purple, just as I requested!

Thanks Rudy!

It measures 5.5 inches long and the handle is 2.5 inches in circumference. It is hard to tell in the pictures, but the acrylic has an iridescent luster to it, sort of like a shooting marble.

Interesting! Thanks for the info.

I'm guessing it'd probably be impossible to get a UFO type handle on an injector head though.

I've seen hand made wooden handles on Schick injectors. I'll see if I can find the link...

Somewhere someone posted an old Shick that his Father had made a wooden handle for.Being able to shave with a razor my Dad made a handle for would mean more to me then having one of his "stock" old razors.

IMO Exotic wood has the greatest upside for looks and reasonable handle weight/balance.

I just snapped the head off my Bakelite G-type and would be interested in getting a wooden handle for it, so I'm gonna give this thread a lil' *bump*
