I bought a beautiful open comb Sheraton on e-bay. When it arrived and I put blade in, one of the doors didn't close completely. Is this a problem? If so, is it easy to fix, or should I just return it?

If one of the doors won't close I wouldn't mess with it and just send it back. Too much can go wrong if you start trying to "fix" it.

Is it at all possible that the blade isn't all the way down? I've experienced that with a razor or two. A slight push, the blade drops and the doors close fine.

I've noticed too that glue spots on the blade will cause a door to stick a bit. Check that as well.

If the suggestions above don't fix it I would send it back. If the doors aren't all the way down the blade exposure is greater. One time I didn't clamp the doors all the way down and paid for it.

Have you tried soaking in warm soapy water and using a toothbrush to clean out the soap gunk from decades of use. Then if that doesn't work completely, a squirt of WD-40 at the TTO and inside the head where the handle connects.

All good tips. I'll also add that I've had several vintage TTOs that never closed on their own no matter the amount of cleaning - but - as long as I gave them a firm push down, they shaved just fine. Best of luck!

Thanks for the comments. I tried repositioning the blade, and then removed the blade and closed the razor. Even without a blade one of the doors does not close completely. I doubt that cleaning and lubing will help, since the owner replated it in rhodium and there is not any scum anywhere on it. I think that I will just have to return it

The scum would be inside the handle, but you're right, if it's been replated, it would have been cleaned before hand.
