I have about 10 boar brushes, the majority of which are blonde. I prefer this look to the banded badger look, that is, boar brushes with a dyed loft band.

I know others here have different likes and dislikes on this subject, or are indifferent, but I'm interested to know what members think.

I have no reason for asking; just curious really.

I say blonde (natural or bleached, but not dyed). Let it be what it is. No need to try to look like a badger. We have, well, badger brushes for that Tongue

I prefer the look of blond but the feel of banded, my favorite is the Semogue 1800.

I hate the sketched look, so blonde for me. Although white is not bad looking either.

Do you think it's due to the banding or perhaps just the bristles in that particular model?

I can go either way, but I've noticed the banded boars seem to come more broken in than the blonds when new.

Could be the bristles I suppose but kind of doubt it. It uses 75% tops (for backbone) mixed with 90% premium (super soft when broken in) the only other brush I've used with 90% premium is the 830, which uses one hundred percent 90% premium, it was just as soft, but it was a bit of a wet noodle once broken in. Also, it too is a banded brush.

I have started to prefer the blonde as well. As soon as the LE Semogue 1305 comes back in stock, I want to get one just because I like the way it looks.

You mean with the painted handle? The Italian Barber? Yes, me too. Looks great. The 1250 is a really good brush too IMO. I also like plain wooden handles, but the LE does look rather cool I must admit.

Depend more on the quality of boar to me, not the natural or banding. I have both and they all perform well. I voted indifferent.

I voted blonde ... I prefer things in their natural state.

Looks aren't everything ... usually. Wink

I really don't understand all the love for the "more natural" look, even amongst the 2-band bleached badger hair lovers... Tongue

hey - not "more natural" - just "natural" Cool i must add that i appreciate many things artificial and made up as well - and all shaving equipment is manmade - thus artificial - after all.

How about a boar brush that is nor a blonde, nor dyed...?

Meet my "Iberian black boar" Semogue prototype...
