I've been using the Kamisori style RG and SS Feathers for a few weeks now and can't really say that I've found that much of a noticeable difference between them.

The difference between the Pro and the Pro Light blades is much more noticeable. The blade gap on the Light is far too small IME and really doesn't work that well for me at all.

Both the SS and RG and incredibly well constructed and I would say that you really couldn't go wrong with either tbh.

I'm getting the itch again to shave with a straight and believe one of these might just be worth trying.

Feather makes four different blades for these razors, who can tell me the difference in these four blades.

The difference is in how far the blade sticks out of the holder

another good blade is the KAI mild

hope this helps?

The Kai mild blade is what I have been using in my CJB kamisori style razor and it seems very forgiving as long as I keep the pressure light and the angle low. I did my first full three pass shave with it yesterday and got an extremely close shave with only a couple of small nicks under my chin where I had trouble finding the right grip. I also have Feather Professional blades but have yet to try one.

I look forward to reading your results .... Nice picture gives a good comparison .
In the uk the Kai & it's blades are a good bit more expensive than the feathers so a review would be handy Smile

Well I've owned the Feather AC - SS and I'm waiting for my delivery of a new Feather Artist Club DX Professional Razor ACD-R, I'll hopefully give the razor a run out this week, and see what kind of shave it delivers over my old Feather AC - SS?

I shaved with my DX for the first time today been shaving with the SS for a few weeks. Used a feather super pro blade and i like the weight and feel of the DX over the SS but the actual shave results were pretty close. The one plus to the DX was going with a little steeper angle especially on the ATG pass. Ill probably finish this blade out in the DX and give the Kai Razor a shot it feels to be real close in weight of the DX. Jamie i
Look forward to your thoughts also.

Well guys this thread is costing me a fortune lol
But worth every penny !
I heard through my wholesale rep that someone had won a Kai captain & pack of blades complete with leather pouch in a lottery/ prize draw from the wholesaler .... This prize has been sat in a drawer unopened & unused for over a year ( the winner was a female hairdresser who has never shaved anyone nor wants to ) I have bought the lot for £80 .... Bargain would normally cost me £200 + I'm very happy Smile
As I said before these Japanese razors are amazing tools I bought 1 ss & within a week have ordered an rg & a Kai captain I'm that impressed !
Now all I need is a display cabinet for my old straights Smile

The Kai Captain's are just as good as the Feather razors (blade holder is somewhat thinner) and feel good in the hand. You'll love it, and at such a price you're very lucky! Enjoy
