TexBilly sold me this fine Rudy Vey tulip not long ago:

TGN Super hair
Knot: 27mm
Loft: 52mm
Handle: 56mm

I was tempted at first. I was thinking of buying a Simpson's Tulip size 2. I wasn't sure I wanted Super grade hair. I thought the brush may have been too big. Wasn't sure if I wanted faux butterscotch. Wasn't sure if it was too big to use for face lathering.

Bought it anyway.

And I love it.

It's a seriously terrific brush. Great handle, and put together exceptionally well - obviously hand made by a true craftsman who is doing it for the love of the art. (I also have two brushes that RV restored, and he did amazing jobs with them as well.)

Right now it's one of my favorite brushes. And those of you who have seen my brush stash know that there is some serious competition there.

Thanks to Billy for offering this up.

I highly recommend anyone who is considering a Tulip-style brush to contact Rudy, and let him make you something by hand with exactly the material and knot you want.

Beautiful brush. I am also a fan of custom brushes turned by our skilled artisans. I'm looking forward to commissioning another brush for myself soon. Please stop by the Custom Exhibit & share Rudy's work there as well.

I was skeptical at first because I have two true butterscotch brushes, but Rudy did a terrific job sourcing the handle material for this.

Here's a Tulip Rudy made for me. It's a big one.

I'd love another but this time I might spend the extra ## for a Shavemac D0-1 rather than a TGN (still a very nice knot).
