Awesome! I was quite pleased at the music choice too! You may have chosen my music for tomorrow, I haven't listened to MuteMath in too long.

Yes, I think so as long as they are helpful for others. I surely don't want to keep looking at myself shave. Tongue

Shooting these with my iPhone makes things much easier. I still want to try shooting at least one with a tripod and my wife's DSLR to see how it does.

That's a cool video.

How do you mount your phone? I've always wanted to make How to videos. You've inspired me to look more into using my S3. It took great pictures in Vegas. Tongue

There are phone mounts for tripods. My setup is not as nice. I stack a few boxes between the two sinks & then set my phone on top. It actually leans slightly on the mirror's edge for some support. I would not recommend this setup, but it is the quickest & easiest solution for me without having to buy anything.

I have an S2 and use a mount that attaches to a standard tripod and it works out great!

this is the exact mount that I use: http://www.amazon.com/iStabilizer-Mount-...B0056C4VRK

Brian - this seems terrific - but i wonder: approximately what water temperature do you use - and do you use alum and/or after shave?

Great question Marius, thanks for bringing this up as I neglected to mention these aspects of my shave.

I am a strict CWS (Cold Water Shaver); cold water for my preshave wash (Clearly Natural glycerin soap) & rinse; cold water rinse on my brush & to lather with;cold water to rinse my razor; cold water rinse between passes & for my final clean up rinse. The most I deviate from this is that I'll occasionally wet my brush with warm (never hot) water for building the lather and sometimes rinse my razor with warm water. I never put anything other than cold water directly on my face during my shave routine. I'm quite prone to weepers and CWS and SEs have solved that issue for me.

For post shave I do not use alum at all. I have tried it (both post shave and as a deodorant) and I get an allergic reaction to it after just a couple uses. My skin gets red, blotchy, and itchy/burn. I use Krampert's Finest Bay Rum or Menthol as my sole aftershave (haven't used other aftershaves for a year and half now). I do also use some Unrefined Shea Butter in the evenings before bed to help moisturize my dehydrated skin. I can't use USB as an after shave because my skin is also oily despite being dehydrated and the USB leaves me very glossy even when using just a little bit. So at night I can really slather it on and it's made a great improvement on the health of my skin.

I doubt you were looking for such a long-winded answer but I was meaning to describe this aspect of my shave so I'm glad you asked the question.

thank you Brian for your thorough answer - and a good answer can never be too long Smile

regarding cold water for lathering soap: i use either martin de candre or calani - both fragrance free - and feel especially calani can be little bit difficult to get slick with only cold water - i'll try building the lather with tepid water next time while keeping everything else cool Cool

when it comes to alum it seems i have just about the same experience as you.

dear Brian (& Brian) - your lathering technique have been most helpful for me.
