Maybe youse guys can help-if you would I'd appreciate it.

Having trouble deciding between D01 2 band and Manchurian brush ~22-23mm. Need more info to pull trigger. Pretty big difference in price.

Any info would be helpful.
Thanks,
Vic

Are you referring to D01 2 Band? I have a D01 2 Band but have never used Manchurian. One thing I would say though is my D01 2 Band has very poor flow through. It doesn't release lather worth a crap...

I'm going to move this to the brush forum since it's not a BST Thread.

Do you bowl or face lather ?
Do you use creams or soaps or both ?
Do you have hard or soft water ?
Do you use a straight or a DE ?
Do you like a very solid backbone or just a nice backbone in a brush ?
Do you mind using extra product to compensate for lather hoggy brush ?

Simpsons Manchurian is my favourite knot so my response will be biased.

I owned and quickly sold my Shavemac DO1 2 band fan. IMO it was too rigid and unyielding.

In contrast, I find the Manchurian to possess the characteristics I'm after and in the right doses.

They have great backbone. The strength of the individual hairs provide resistance and feedback against the face. However, there is some yielding and flex in the knot (unlike my DO1 2 band which just felt like a solid wall of hair tips against my face).

They have soft tips, but at the same time a little scritch (as a result of resistance born of individual hair strength against the face).

They have great flow through. My Shavemac did not.

In summary it's been my experience that certain brushes will excel in certain areas. For my money and tastes, the Simpsons Manchurian offers me the best combination of attributes that I look for in a brush...

I mostly face lather (95%)
I use soap & creams
I have hard water
I use a DE
Prefer very firm backbone w/no prickly
Using more product is ok.
Thanks,
Vic

Out of this list, the one thing that really relates to knot choice indicates to me that the Shavemac DO1 2 band is more aligned with your tastes...

I do appreciate your recommendations, all of them & I am taking them seriously!

When I have experienced gentlemen recommending 3 different knots, I know I'm in the ballpark but still have a dilema to work out. Do1 2 band, Manchurian, or
other 2 band. That narrows it down........but,but,but. I can swallow the cost of 1 brush, but not 2 or 3 right now. eenie, meenie, miney, mo, which way should I go? I'll let it work on me. Maybe I will have a revelation-or something. Going to quit thinking about it for a while.

Thanks fellas,
Vic

D01 2-Band will for some feel prickly.
Same with Manchurian.

I love both hair types.

However you should also consider Simpson 2-Band bulb and Shavemac D01 3-Band in bulb. D01 3-Band feels as solid as most other 2-Bands IMHO
I own 4 D01 3-Bands and 4 D01 2-Bands brushes, I like both types of hair.....but D01 2-Band in shorter than 50 mm loft will tend to feel prickly on my skin, but still a great performer.

I know not part of OPs list, but to me the Bold Blue phrase above and 95% face lather makes me think of Rooney Heritage 2-band.

Sorry, Vic. I know it's not on your list but I had to bring it up.

Definitely Moe! A nice "gel like" knot from the early generation XL series. Didn't suggest it, as the OP indicated he was choosing between DO1 2 band and Manchurian, but that's a great recommendation. The trick is finding one!
