Was news to me, even though I lived in Chicago for a while. Got me interested after Phil's tweet this morning. Is today official state holiday for Illinois?
Happy Pulaski day Illinoi(ans?) Biggrin

I am amazed at the number of Americans who have never heard of him. Just like Lafayette, Pulaski was a foreigner who helped during the American Revolution. (Lafayette was French and Pulaski was Polish). I learned about them in school back in Brooklyn but I guess these things aren't taught anymore. Sad

I have an excuse, I have never gone to school here. This is why I was interested to find out.

Did you have to walk 10 miles in the snow one way to get there? Biggrin

If my memory serves correctly, I think in Chicago, it is a teacher workshop day.

I am pretty sure it is a straight holiday. Even City workers had the day off.

As a resident of the area I can assure you everyone has it off who is in any way associated with city, state or county government. Ahem. Went to the DMV the other day and they were closed. Confused, I walked up to the door and a sign said they were closed for Lincoln's birthday. This in addition to President's Day mind you. I know, Lincoln is from Illinois... There are times when I wonder how many of us put in an honest day's work.
