I was in a meeting at work when these brushes arrived. I was thrilled to see them sitting on my desk when I returned.

I am eager to try the Duke 3. I hear so much praise for the brush that I wanted to try it myself. Also, I didn't have a butterscotch brush in my den.

I have a Case with a travel tube, but I do enjoy a bit of variety. I am looking forward to using the Major next month when I am traveling a good bit.

One of my favorite brushes is my Milkchurn 2-band. I love the handle for its functionality and its heritage. When I saw the Coates, I was reminded of the Milkchurn. I tried it a minute ago to see what a Pure brush felt like (first one). It was scratchy, to say the least. It will look good sitting on my mantle; it is too scratchy for my rotation.

Those are great looking brushes. I have one of the Fitzwilliams too, and I found that after a few uses it softened up quite nicely, losing a lot of its scratchiness.

Well, you have one brush that I really want, the Duke 3, and another that I wish I had never sold, the Major.

The Major is a tremendous travel brush.

Teiste-I am really looking forward to using the Duke 3. I really like the Butterscotch when I saw it in person, but it was not really the color I was thinking it would be. I was expecting it to be a bit more yellow, instead it really a mustard yellow color. Still, it is a rich, dark tone and a nice contrast to the traditional Simpsons white.

Johnny- I hope to love the Major as much as you do. I am a bit worried about the small knot, but having something that quickly dries will be nice.

churchilllafemme-thanks for the info on the Fitzwilliams. I'll give another few shaves and see what happens.

That small knot on the Major will bloom nicely. Give it a good washing with some mild shampoo, then give it a couple of good hand lathers with your favorite soap or cream. I generally use MWF for my hand lather break-in.

Wonderful selection!

As John stated the Fitzwilliam will soften up with use (try some palm lathering to speed up the process). I have the Duke 3 Butterscotch (but in Manchurian) and it is one of my favourite brushes. I had and sold a Major in 3 band super, I think I would have liked it better in Best.

Congratulations and use in good health!

That's a very nice trio of brushes you have there...... Enjoy

Can I offer some advise, I have the Major as well in super. But on a couple of occasions the handle became very stiff and difficult to release, a small amount of vas aline on the threads sorted it out.

Fitzwilliam is a great looking handle, and I think the lamp black is very cool, too. I think Simpson could capitalise on that handle and produce them in Best. I'd buy one anyway. It would indeed match the MC. I suppose one could always buy one and get it re-knotted?
