I finally got my hands over one of these new (and gorgeous) Muhle R89 Rosegold safety razors and I just found what I knew I was going to : a perfect shaver as well as very good looking and elegant.

The truth told , the first time I saw one of these razors I was like : " thats ugly as sin" , but I will have to eat my words , since its beauty have grown on me and now I truly admire it since its the most distinguished razor that I have from the Muhle/Edwin Jagger familiy (and I have quiet a few of them...)

This razor is not the heaviest on the market : its total weight is 65 g ,which are 2.2 oz and its lighter than an Edwin Jagger DE89L , DE8911 Barley and some other Edwin Jagger models.

As with the regular R89 razor , this one has a knurled handle , which makes it comfortable to hold while shaving.I must admit that I have never experienced problems with this razor , even with slightly wet hands (never have slipped , I mean).

This kind of closed comb heads provides me the best shave (it is my favorite with no shadow of doubt) , so you can guess that this one have done exactly the same for me.

It must not be the heaviest razor I own , and its quiet expensive , lets be honest , but its style , color and how good it shaves makes it totally worthy to me. I'm glad that I eat my words and now I have it on my bathroom , so I can enjoy it and admire its beauty.

I went back to my DE89 this week after some time with other razors. It's truly remarkable how smoothly they shave.

I think I'm going to stick one of my heavier handles on it and see what happens.

His combination of straightforward enthusiasm, superior photography, and just-bad-enough-to-be-endearing grammar? Smile

Just install the R41 head and you got it Smile
You can purchase the R41 head alone from the official Mühle shop for €25 shipped. Email them about it Smile

Beautiful Teiste, congratulations. Biggrin

I've been casually looking for one myself, but without success... Sad

I think it would have been a truly amazing razor had they done the head in rose gold too!

Gentlemen, I fell in love with the Muhle R89 rose gold and had to have it. I also bought the little Muhle razor stand for it. What a handsome pair in my shave den.

When I first saw the rosegolden handle I found it kitchy. But I've changed my mind completely. And the R89 head is my favourite, providing me first class shaves. Must confess that I'm tempted…

Old thread, I know, but just got the R89 rosegold this week and have used it 3 times. From the first stroke I knew I was in love. (And I already lusted it for its elegant handle for the good part of a year.)
For comparison I have the Merkur 34c, and IMO the Mühle R89 just feels like higher quality engineering than the 34c: the balance/natural angle, the posts hold the blade exactly in the right spot (equal exposure on both sides) every time, and it just feels like the head holds the blade tighter. All this adds up to a much more efficient shaver, without much additional aggression (if any, but so far, no extra aggression that I have noticed).
Happy!

I have my R89 mounted on a Weber Classic handle; I like the feel of the machined steel. Great razor.
