I just completed a blade trade for Voskhod and Ladas blades. For those that have used them what were your thoughts?

The Voskhods are a bit harsh on the first shave, but mellow out after that. I liked them well enough, but I am narrowing down to just a couple of blades and they weren't among my top 3 choices.

It will be interesting to see how well they work for you. I find the Voskhod to stand above the rest in my den. Ladas are solid, but as long as Voskhods are available, that's what I would buy again. I have 900 but am considering adding to that soon.

BTW, the blades you sent arrived today, thanks for the trade!

I get good results from both, but do better with the Voskhod. I currently have a lot of the Voskhod in my blade stash. Over at B&B there is a Russian member who posted some information from the manufacturer's website, which is only in Russian. According to the member, the website says that both Voskhod and Ladas are coated with chrome and teflon, and that Voskhod is made from British steel and Ladas from Swedish steel. If you search for Voskhod at B&B you'll find a number of threads with members who like the blade. As with all blades it's a personal matter.

I like the Voskhod in a slant and the Ladas (super stainless blue&yellow) in my MergressXL. Early on I found them to give me the most forgiving and close shaves. I've been on a rotation of other blades, trying to find out what to stock up on. If the distributor had been at all reliable, I would have ordered many more cartons from Phil by now. I will revisit those blades soon, to see if they are still at the top of my unobtanium heap.

I like both but find the Voskhods to be a touch better. They are in my top five blades right now but that has occasionally changed over the years as new blades are discovered, qc slips or improves, and general availabilty. I am willing to go to some pains to get blades I like but refuse to pay small fortunes or hunt the only one or two sellers down like they have my favorite brush.

I haven't tried the Ladas, but like the Voskhods a lot. Not the sharpest blade, but sharp and smooth enough to give me 4 good shaves. I think I have about 1,600 left. I only paid just over $6 per 100 for the bulk of them, a little more for a couple hundred, and had a few hundred given to me as well. There are blades I enjoy more, but for the price, I couldn't pass them up.

I just finished my 3rd shave with the Voskhod Blade and I am pleasantly surprised with these blades. After reading the opinions in this thread I wasn't that hopeful. I have got three very smooth DFS shaves with no irritation. Not the sharpest blade but sharp enough and very smooth. I retired the blade but I could have gotten at least one if not two more shaves with it. This is a blade I would buy in bulk.

Never tried the Ladas. The Voskhods work well in my Red Tip and their cheap, which make them my blade of choice for travel, but I don't really use them at home.

Never used the Ladas, but Voshkods are a super blade. Sharp, smooth, and pretty good longevity. I usually get 5-6 shaves out of one. Which is slightly above average for me.

I have 100 of both and while they're both good blades I like the Voskhods better. I'd buy them again, once my Ladas are gone I won't replace them.

I'm very thankful for this thread because in a previous blade buying frenzy, I had purchased 100 of these and haven't even tried one yet. Blush

I'm always looking for smooth, fairly sharp blades and for some RAD/BAD reason, I feel the need to continue my blade testing ad-nauseum...

I got some of both in a PIF contest for 5Savages a while back.

My daily and best blade for me is the Polsilver SI. I put in a Ladas last week and 3-5 shaves later forget what blade I had in assuming it was a Polsilver as it was performing like it. I was pretty surprised to find the Ladas in when I went to change blades.
I am fairly impressed with the Ladas

Ladas are not my absolute favourite blades, but they are good, without being fantastic.

I find that Voskhods serve me well. I'd put them on a par with Astras or Persona Labs.

I never push a blade past 3-4 shaves anyway so longevity is not a big issue.

I like the LADAS. The Russians seem to have a handle on quality control.
