As the title say, how much does a Damaskeene go for in good condition? How much should I pay for one approx?

I would venture $10-15, maybe? I just got an Old Spice mug and a 1912 from an antique shop for $10, together, but that's probably not the norm.

$10-15 for a Damaskeene? Wow! I thought they would go for far more, like $30-40.

Probably $30-40 if it comes in a very nice case?

I'll wait for someone with a bit more experience in this field to pop in and answer.

From looking at completed listings on eBay, it appears $20-40 is the norm for them.

Yes.

Saw in the archive section here at TSN, and there was a very nice on in a very nice condition case for $30. And usergrade Damaskeenes for $12-16.

But they don't pop up often for sale...

Buying from a trusted seller I would expect them to be $20 on the low end and $50 and up for nicer/boxed/open comb versions. They can be had cheaply on the auction site, but you have to be persistent and patient and wait for a incorrectly titled razor auction and hope nobody else recognizes it.

They've been going up recently. I agree with the $20-50 range. They definitely go for more than other SEs.

I picked up these three razors on Etsy for $6 plus shipping. They are user grade and pretty common. Anyone know if the one on the end is a Damaskeene? It looked like it might be one, with a rounded handle and curved head. I have not received them yet.

I managed to find a Damaskeene out in the wild for $10, and a not labeled well, poorly photoed, etc. Damaskeene OC on ebay for $23. The sad thing is I wonder how many these great shavers I passed (in Antique stores) over the years while focusing on DEs.

Look inside the head when you get it, it will say "Use Damaskeene blades." Otherwise, I can't tell the difference between my 1912 and my Damaskeene.

Prices went up on ebay lately. An open comb one, with a broken blade stop when for about 50 which is an absurd. It is a slightly milder variant of the 1912 design with a slightly larger safety comb and that's it.

Is it good? yes.
Is it night and day difference from say an Ever Ready 1912? NO.

The ER is slightly more aggressive, which is not a bad thing at all if you know how to use an SE. In other words, if you don't feel like shelling over $20 on one and you already have another 1912, you won't be missing much. If you really want one and not in a rush, one would pop up on bst at some point.

Just my $0.02....

That last post is really interesting. I am new to SE's and so far have a streamline (4 of them, I like them that much. Blush) a 1912 and an OCMM. I have been wondering how a Damaskeene would perform, but as I live in the UK they are proving quite hard to find...perhaps its not worth the effort of looking?

I got PIF'd a Demaskeene, shaved with it, didn't like it, and re-PIF'd it. I'm a DE man for sure. The only single edge I use is a straight razor.

A Damaskeen will be milder than your 1912, as already written. If you're happy with the 1912 the Dammy might be too mild. I rarely use mine anymore for just that reason, and at one time I liked it.
