So I'm thinking of ordering one of the Muhle synthetics. From reports/reviews, I think I would like to get the V2.

When ordering, how do you know which one is which? Looking at the Muhle site doesn't seem (to me) to say which is v1 or v2.

Help!! And thanks in advance

Michael, i can't help you with this, but you may want to consider a Frank Shaving synthetic brush as they are, in my opinion, just as good and much cheaper and you can get the knot set at the height that you want. Good luck.

Michael , let me put you some pics of the v1 and v2 side to side :

-25 mm (v2 on the left , v 1 on the right )

- 21 mm (v2 on the left , v1 on the right )

-19 mm (v2 on the left , v1 on the right )

And the 23 mm v2 (never tried a v1 23 mm) :

So far , the 25 mm v2 one is my favorite , and perform much better than any of the other V2 versions (IMHO).

How do they differ to the v1 versions?

Why not shoot them off a comment and ask? See their website.

From Teiste's pictures it looks fairly obvious that the version 2 uses thinner fibers, but if only looking at one the other distinguishing characteristic would be the darkness and setting of the dark band. Of course if only looking at one brush, never having held or used the other it may be pretty hard to tell the difference. I would think that if a vender has both on hand they would be able to ensure you got the right one.

If you're ordering direct from Mühle, it's quite simple: in your order notes, simply tell them you want V2. They will provide the correct brush. I think Mühle itself is out of the V1 version. In any case, you will get V2 if you specify it. I've been getting them since before Christmas that way.

The tips on version 2 are softer than version 1. I face lather with both of them. If you want a minimum of prickliness get version 2.

The material for the Muhle Enhanced (V2) is slightly different that the original STF (V1) in terms of how the fiber is shaped and how the tips are flagged (heavy buffing / scratching) to produce a greater level of softness.
