Just ordered a Sir Irisch Moos shave stick, never tried it before but I love Tabac so I know this will perform beautifully. My question is how big is the shave stick compared to a La Toja stick. My guess is that is a lot bigger but it's hard to tell by just looking at a picture. Thanks in advance.

The Irish Moos stick is much larger than the La Toja tick. It is the same size as the Tabac stick which is very large too.

It's double the size at 100 grams. Taller and fatter.

Where did you order this from? I was under the impression the IM stick was discontinued.

This place used to have them, I assume they still do as it allows me to put them in the cart. They look to be $9 plus shipping, who knows..that site gives me a headache with the bad layout and lack of decent translation.

I thought I had missed out on the Irisch Moos shave stick. If this works let us know how much you paid for shipping.

I was just pointing to a source. I do not, and most likely will never use that site. There is only 1 shipping option to the US and it is like $23 (or free if you spend $125+) they also charge a extra $3.25 Paypal fee. It might be Ok if you're local or make a very large order, but a small to medium sized order isn't really worth it...in my opinion anyway. However, it is one of, if not the only source of Irisch Moos and that might make it worth it for Moos junkies. Wink

You're right Byron,

It is about $ 23 to ship upto 2 kilogrammes to the US (It is nothing more than the cost we have for shipping).

There is nothing we can do about that, I'm sorry. We always try to add some products to make up for shipping, but I hope you understand that with a limited order, that is not easy.

With a bottle of Floid Blue at $ 27, the comparison might not be as bad as you suggest.

Sorry,

Eric

Shave Shed in Australia has a couple of sticks @$18.99; worth it for Australian shavers; shipping at $6 approx.

Maybe one day they will bring out a puck?

I sent them a email suggesting just that or bring the stick back. You never know what will happen unless you write and let them know that their customers aren't pleased with that decision. If you feel the same let them know!

I'd be happy to. Do you have their email address?

I haven't used the stick yet (or the Tabac stick) but it is pretty large, much larger than other sticks. It may be a bit unwieldy compared to La Toja/Valobra/Arko/etc.

When I eventually get to it, I may just grate it down.

Between the Tabac and SIM sticks, equal performance, but the latter wins for me on scent every time. I was gutted when it was announced the SIM was being discontinued. It is a large stick(twice the size of most) but that makes application easier IMO. Thanks for the link to Eric's site. SIM ordered this afternoon.:yho:

We ran into the same thing going the other direction with my wife's pottery. A scuttle w/ adequate packing weights about 2.5 lbs/1kg, and the price to Europe is more than $20 just for the shipping without figuring in the packing material.

It's frustrating, but I guess that's really the price we pay for having a niche-market hobby.

Moos was one soap that I had and hated..

Frankly, I didn't even try to lather it. The scent was SO overpowering.

Just received mine, the smell was fantastic and the performance was exactly like Tabac which I also love. But then they should since they are the same soap base. Now that I have one stick I'm really disappointed they stopped making such a great product! WHY OH WHY do companies do such stupid things! If it's only available in stick form and most people use pucks its not much of a stretch to add a puck and ceramic bowl like Tabac. Goodness.
