I keep going back and forth on the idea of a Simpson Classic. Thing is, I already own a Rooney 3/1 in Super, which has similar 22/44 dimensions as the Classic 1. I think the Classic is denser if I read correctly, but I don't know if it's enough of a difference to warrant buying. Then there's the Classic 2,at 23 or 24/46, which seems similar to my Commodore X3 (which is supposed to be like 53mm loft but seems much shorter to me).

I like the idea of a Chubby "0" without the Chubby price, a small yet dense knot, so I've looked at the Classics awhile now. I just don't want to get one for $100 and have it be just like a brush I already own.

I will tell you , go for the Classic , 1 or 2. I have a Classic 1 and its an excellent performer as facelathering brush.I have tried a Chubby 1 in super badger , and the Classic 1 won the battle for me : better price and extra stuffed with hair , and it doesn't have the scritch that the Super badger 3 band Chubby 1 has.

I have owned a Classic 2 and it is indeed very dense and a fantastic face lathering brush (traded it because I found it a bit small for me). But since I never used a Rooney I can't compare.

I highly recommend both the Classic 1 and 2...I own and have owned them in BEST, Manchurian and custom versions with Super 3 Band...They are OUTSTANDING,dense brushes, you cant go wrong with either. I use these brushes more than I do my Chubbies.

I own the Classic 1 in Manchurian. It conveniently fits in the Simpsons Travel case and it replaced my Major (in 3 band Super) and my Wee Scot (in Best). It is my holy grail travel brush!

Is the Queen Elizabeth brush made based on the Classic 2 handle or ?

If I feel the Duke 2 has just a tad too small a handle will I appreciate the Classic 2 handle ?

Hmm, seems like they'd be a good purchase then. Leaning toward the Classic 1. Thanks guys.

Claus, I believe the Jubilee will be closer in size to the Duke 2 than the Classic 2.

The Duke 2 handle heights range from around 41 to 42.5mm.

The CL 2 is around 40.5mm.
