The Portuguese TV channel "SIC" broadcasted a small piece featuring some footage at the Semogue factory, and some pieces of an interview with the master artisan Mr. Manuel Gomes and also an employee as well.

I wasn't succeeded in embedding the video here, but if you want to take a look at it, just click on this link, wait for the small commercial to pass (some Hollywood movie or so) and enjoy a glimpse at the Semogue factory - 0:35 onwards. Wink

In Portuguese only, sorry...

Wonderful video. Thank you for sharing. As far as I'm concerned the best brushes in the world come from those fine people in that video.

Great video. But why aren't we able to get those barrel brushes in the U.S.? I saw them getting made. I really have wanted one for months. Confused

Because we (U.S. Vendors) forget to check the Catalog. Blush I will have to see if I can add these to my next order.

Anyone notice the Italian Barber TriColor in the background to the right of Mr Gomes?

...and this one...although I am informed the plastic ring is the down side...having said that, the barrel looks like it has a plastic ring, too...

Very interesting video, thank you for sharing this with us! It looked like they use some sort of a crimping plastic piece for the base of the knot, I have never seen that done before.

Yes I noticed that too, a bunch of empty handles so maybe a second run is coming.

Emanuel, thank you for posting this link. Excellent video, from my own personal experience Manuel and his son Tiago are a real pleasure to deal with...

May "Semogue" continue a fine tradition.

I have one of those brushes... it is a Semogue 1993, and it is made for the low-end market (drugstores and such).

Although I like it, I have to say that it is not as good as the "Premium" line of Semogue brushes - the plastic ring is not as durable or sturdy as the metal ones, and the sticker went away the first time I lathered with it...
Generally, the prices of these ones are very low (less than ~€5), and you can compare these ones with the low-end Omegas, like the #50068...
Although I think that the brush is worthy for the looks alone...!

Does not the Semogue barrel (pictured above) also not have the plastic ring?

I don't know if I understood your question correctly... but Semogue 1993 = Semogue barrel and it always comes with a plastic ring...

What I am saying is that if the 'low-end' 1335 Semogue has a plastic ring and is therefore less durable, and the 'barrel' also has a plastic ring (as pictured just above), wouldn't that mean that the barrel is also 'low-end'?
