What's the most money that you've spent on a blind soap, cream, or aftershave purchase? I've spent somewhere around $90.00 on seven tubs of Olivia's shaving cream (German artisan), and I've been very happy with the purchase.

The most I have spent on a one soap purchase was my wooden bowl of MdC.

After shave would have to be when I bought three bottles of Myrsol product.

Single item?

The MdC soap in wooden bowl.

But everything else except my opus 1870 cream was a blind buy.

Not just a single item, a single purchase. This could just be soaps, creams, aftershaves, or all three.

A blind purchase is when you buy something that you have never actually used or seen in person. I think for most of us, that initial purchase of gear is a good example. Buying a bunch of stuff with no real idea as to whether or not you'll even like it. My first purchase was blind. I had never used any traditional shaving gear and didn't really know what to get, luckily it all turned out pretty well for me. I got a complete set up that totalled about $70, including shipping.

As far as soaps, creams, after shaves...my biggest was buying MWF in a wooden bowl for about $20, including shipping (I'm not much of a risk taker where money is concerned). Sadly, I hated the scent and have ended up trading the soap away...the bowl was nice though. I kept that.

I guess it's basically buying something that you haven't tried, don't know the scent, how it performs, etc.

Hope that gives you an idea, Brian.

It would have to be a Weber razor $70, thankfully I like it

My next will probably be a Simpsons brush. I have never used one.

My multiple item purchase would have to be the order that included Vie-Long silvertip and horse brushes. $140

I've since changed the title to any shaving related purchase instead of just creams, soaps, and aftershaves.

I'm thinking blind would mean an impulse buy, not pre-planned. With that concept in mind, I'd have to say it was a cased Gillette NEW Deluxe razor at a flea market. I had to go find an ATM, I was paying full asking price, and the guy voluntarily reduced the price when I forked it over without my usual haggling. I just had to have that pretty razor!

OK, Thanks!

It would have to be the latest purchase of ABCBA (Antica Barbieria Colla Bitter Almond) croap. Not a huge purchase, but $114 on something never even before contemplated and completely out of the blue.

Every new product has been a blind purchase! Not much opportunity to try before you buy in my neck of the woods...

All me entire shaving stuff collection - the 100+ brushes, the 50+razors, the 80+ shaving creams I have bought have all been blind buys Biggrin

Also my 25+ bottles of after shave balm and splash have all been blond buys.
Same with my DE blades and skin care products - all blind buys Blush

I only really regret blind buying 3 of my 8 Thäter brushes, the Feather AS1 DE with the stand (bought it twice to be sure I had the proper technique second time around) and a couple of my shaving creams.
The rest were all great blind buys Smile

Most I have spent so far on a shaving related blind buy is my Morris & Forndran Stubby 3 XL 34 mm 2-Band Rooney Finest hair brush, which cost me including VAT/Tax/shipping a total of $475
I sold it to Vocalistbob for half of that after using it 4 times. It was still a fantastic brush - but a bit too large for me and I own it's little brother, which still today is the best brush in my collection Thumbup

Did you custom order the Duke 3 to get it in Silvertip ?
Otherwise you can 'only' get it in the Best hair Wink
