So I pulled the trigger because I got 10% discount on Connaughtshaving using the code: TSRNIS

Received 10% discount on the Feather DE, the Ikon DE OC with OSS matte handle, on the Mühle Rosegold R41 New Version Rosegold and on the pot of DR Harris Eucalyptus shaving cream - but not on the Merkur 38c, the Merkur 39c and on the Mühle Chrome R89.

I have a sole OSS head plate lying on my desk ready for the Feather AS-D2, but pretty nervously waiting and crossing my fingers that Feather has not changed the design so the Ikon head plates won't work in the new upgraded version of the Feather Scared

But if Feather have made these minor changes, my hope is that they then have made the razor a tad more open and aggressive - or at least that I this time around get a razor that can actually cut my stubble Tongue
My two old Feather DE razors could not cut 2 days stubble, even if trying an against the grain pass with a brand new Feather blade.

This led me to believe Feather simply must have had some production issues - my DE/razor technique is good enough to use a Feather Artist Club straight and a Mühle R41 2011 version (most aggressive R41 version made) - though not simultaneously
Tongue - without cutting my face up in two..... Biggrin

I did not buy the stand this time - as I already own one from the Old Feather TAS-1 DE I bought in early 2012. But I own 30-40 DE razors now and don't worry about stands to be honest Wink

Anyone about to pull the trigger on this Feather AS-D2 ?

I think I got a great discount on the stuff I just bought - very solid razors Cool

i don't know how they shave but those feather SS razors have got to be the best looking DEs i have ever seen. maybe i should put one out on display where i can see it often? better yet, maybe i should just put a photo of one out and save some cash ......

the rosegold and the 38C are really intriguing, also. sounds like you are going to have a lot of fun trying them all out.

I have a Feather AS-D1 in my current rotation and am pleased with its performance, workmanship, and aesthetics. I am also considering adding a new Feather AS-D2 to my collection, but will wait until there are a sufficient number of reviews available to accurately gauge how it performs relative to the AS-D1 before I make a decision. The German forum NassRasur recently had a review of the new AS-D2 stating that the performance was very similar to the AS-D1. Many of us will be waiting with much interest to read your upcoming review of the AS-D2.

My word Claus! I wish I had your budget for shave related gear!! I'm jealous. Cool I'm looking forward to your oppinion on the AS-D2. Especially because I found the AS-D1 did not work for me.

I tried that discount code but it also didn't work for me. Tongue

Another one looking forward to your opinion.

Ordinarily, I would have pulled the trigger ASAP but the AS-D1 does not cut it for me so I await multiple reviews on the new razor. Smile

Awaiting your review of the Feather AS-D02 and if the bottom plate of the iKon fits the new Feather. Congratulations on all these outstanding purchases.

From the AS-D2 photos I've seen, I'm fairly certain, (just shy of absolute confidence), that the OSS baseplate you have, will work with the AS-D2's redesigned top cap. The dual alignment slots are completely milled though the base, and they appear to be wide enough to accommodate the longer fins of the new top cap. On the other hand, the older iKon OC baseplate (being grooved, not milled through), might not work with the new cap. I don't think the long fins will have the clearance.

Wow congrats on that haul! I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on the new Feather. The ASD1 was just to mild for me. I know one thing, you will enjoy that D.R. Harris Eucalyptus Cream.

Great haul Claus, looking forward to your thoughts on the Feather...

I paid way too much for my Rose gold - I thought they were only available direct from Muhle!

Thanks guys, I'll make sure to do a THOROUGH review of the Feather D2 once it arrives.

I will give one week of shaves before I write anything here, that is 4-5 shaves for me (I like the stubbled look in weekends and my skin benefits from the rest from shaving)

I will of course know as soon as I get it, if it works with the Ikon head base plates or not.

I work 12 out of the next 14 days in a row, so don't have much time for testing in that period unfortunately since I work 12 hour shifts half of the 12 days (I work in IT surveillance)

In Europe, often rose colored gold is obtained by adding some copper in with the gold when manufactured. Not sure if that is the case here, but I would suspect it would be.

Nice looking razors, thats for sure.

I may have misunderstood, but I thought that I read that the rose gold had been discontinued but now it seems as though there is a new version out.

Connaught Shaving is selling the AS-D02 without the stand for
$208 + shipping. I would like to hear a review to see if the razor is more aggressive then the D01.

The Feather razors are not available in rose gold and now HAIRIZON SG has the new model available for pre-order. How does Connaught get them before the official Feather distributor?Huh
