Howdy Folks,

New kid on the block here with a few weeks of DE shaving under his belt and already well over 6 months worth of software. Jeez had I known wet shaving was gonna to appeal so much to my AD I may have never jumped inWink.

Have perused more than a few forums and if I may be so bold the "vibe" here based on some of the articles I've read seemed to be the best fit for me. Here's hoping my gut's rightWink

Me: Sales guy by day (Acoustics) and thrill seeker, climber, adventurer, gastronome and beer geek by night.

The Journey into shaving: Well.....the original intent (which I plan on sticking to) was to learn to shave with a straight and be able to hone. Figured I'd start with a DE and go from there. Have used Grandad's vintage vulcanized Triumph badger brush since I started with carts.

How it's going: Being a brother of the bald coconut I also shave my head and if I've learned anything it's that I was gifted a bulletproof squash paired to a face as delicate as an Irish schoolgirl who's never seen sunlightSad. I will however prevail and one of these days soon a 3 pass irritation free BBS shave will be mine! Currently things are improving daily, technique is getting better and hopefully soon I will unlock that magic combo of blade, pre, lather and post.

Until then I have learned the following....

- Derbys on me shave as well as dragging a rope through tall grass
- Feathers are the devils plaything.
- Astra SP's seem to be the current ticket
- Do not under any circumstance leave MR GLO on your face for more than a few moments. If it smells like Pine Sol it also delivers chemical burns like Pine Sol!
- Astrolather seems to actually work. Who knew a product designed for fun below the belt could improve things above itWink
- Pinaud Clubman full strength is ride down memory lane
- Ogallala bay makes great stuff!
- Tend skin is over rated. I believe Moonshine mixed with Aspirin would achieve the same results at a fraction of the cost.
- Searching eBay for Vintage Gillette products now occupies a significant portion of my work day.
- Badger burn (EJ Best) is no jokeSad
- The Semogue 1305 is a thing of beauty!
- Online retailers secretly plant subliminal messages in my brain at night and subsequently make me justify draining my wallet.

Look forward to being active on here and learning as much as I can.

Attached a pic of the first weeks acquisitions and the vintage brush.

I knew it. I knew it. I knew that those on line retailers were posting subliminal messages because after I stopped spending my spare time looking at their websites, I didn't have that urge to buy any more.

Welcome to TSN.

I like the Astra's too but, I can use a Feather.

Sorry you have sensitive skin. I am fortunate because I don't and I can leave MR GLO on my face for several minutes without a problem.

Ah ... Pinaud Clubman full strength. I have to agree with you that it is a very nice ride down memory lane and Ogallala Bay does makes great stuff.

I use WitchHazel after a cold water rinse to close the pours and then Nieva.

Searching eBay for Vintage Gillette Products ... I spent along time looking up saftey razors so I am glad that I am not the only one who admits looking.

Straight Razor Shaving is nice but I have not had a chance to sit and hone so I am using a DE/SE in the meantime.

Good Luck

Thanks for the warm welcome gentlemen. Much appreciated.

Today's lesson learned - When you think you're ready to start shaving with the speed and precision of guys like Mantic and GeoFatboy.....DON'T! These men are either real life ninja's, ex KGB, or have beards made from the soft underbellies of unicorns. Slow down, bleed lessWink Although I am starting to wince less at the cold hard slap that is TendSkin before my morning coffee.
