During the last few months, behind the scenes, we have been working with a specialist synthetic bristle manufacturer in an attempt to perfect a Simpson version of an imitation badger material.

I'm pleased to announce we may have cracked it (after much trial & error).

I'm going to have the brush in the picture (a Duke 3) finished off, eg stickered logo'd etc and offer it here as a pass around piece to gauge reaction.

I believe Tieste would be the man to open the reviews, if only for his wonderful photography! - so when it's finished, he will be the first recipient Cool

There we go - you guys are taking part in real time Simpson R&D, and dare I say it - a little bit of history.

Best regards,

Yeah, I'd be happy to help! Count me in as well.

A synthetic Simpson sounds very intriguing! If its successful, would the goal be to offer it with the range of handles, or would it go to a specific model?

Well done Mark & Simpson. I also would be interested in comparing this to both Muhle's Black & Silvertip Fibres.

That certainly looks interesting, but I think I'll just stick with the real badger hair. Good luck with it, though.

Mark, very nice of you to let members of The Shave Nook participate in this testing.

I will hold back in offering my services to give other the chance to participate. But according to reviews posted here I will act accordingly.

Times are changing as I thought I would never hear the words synthetic and Simpsons mentioned in the same sentence.

Now if someone could only come up with a artificial pig.SmiliePig

I would love to try this. I've been hesitant about jumping into synthetics without a trial period.

Do you know yet what the pricing will be like compared to similar brushes in Best?

Wow this sounds great. I just bought my first Simpsons brush this past weekend. I'd love to be part of this trial too.

Mark, this is a new and innovative direction for Simpson and an obvious indication that there is a growing market for synthetic badger brushes. Knowing that you and Simpson will not be entering the market to occupy second place, Muhle may soon have some real competition in this market segment.

Hi Mark

If the offer is open to someone who has zero synthetic experience I'd like to partake... if not, no worries.

Take care, Mike

It's a pass-around exercise guys but we'll make two or three and get them out to members here ...

They in turn can cast their judgement & send on to the next member.

@ Jaguar ... As I say to my kids at school "Second place is first place loser ..."

Great stuff and a wonderful offer! Good to see Simpsons embracing change and taking this on. Can't wait to see the finished article as nothing looks quite like a Simpsons. BOARed yet? Biggrin

Very interesting. I have been selling more and more synthetic brushes so there is clearly a market. I will be very interested to read members thoughts on this brush.
