I recently acquired a metal Plisson Size 12 brush in EW.

I had wanted this brush since the first time I saw a member's pic of it in the SOTD threads.

I used it a few times and put it aside as a thing of beauty to be admired and used occasionally.

Yesterday I took it from the shelf in readiness for my next shave.
Something sharp bit in to my finger.
I observed a sliver of the plating had come away and embedded itself in my finger.

I noticed the fault was not isolated to one area.
The entire brush is cracking and flaking in various locations.
The brush has not be exposed to heat or anything corrosive.
I'd estimate it's seen far less than a dozen shaves.

Needless to say I'm quite disappointed...

Oy, that is very disappointing indeed. I would be very frustrated if they did not respond immediately to make things right.

Hmm, didn't we recently see a thread about a Semogue that this happened to sans finger jab?

Sorry to see that, Ben. I FEEL the disappointment.

Surely Plisson will stand behind it. Appears the metal was not prepared properly before plating.

Yes, the Semogue was paint peeling, the Plisson has the chrome peeling off.

And the Plisson costs more than 13 times more than the Semogue...

Hello Ben, sorry to hear your bad news. But I am confident "Joris" will sort this out for you.

I had a similar experience with my Edwin Jagger "Chatsworth" brush & razor which was replaced, stated the problem was the prep prior to plating.

Hope all goes well....

Very sorry Ben.

When I initially saw the title of the thread and the name of the poster, my initial though was that a "problem" with a Plisson brush equaled wanting more of them! I wish that were the case for you.

I hope that they sort it out in a timely manner and that you can once again enjoy the brush. Smile

Good news!

Plisson have responded to my emails for assistance.

They agree that there is an issue with the brush and have requested that I return it in order for them to assess the fault with a view to prevent it occurring in the future.

Additionally, upon it's return they will supply a replacement brush.

Further, as an effort towards reimbursement of shipping charges they have also offered to send a complimentary shaving soap or cream.

I am satisfied with this outcome and will update once I've had further feedback from Plisson and/or take delivery of the replacement brush.

Well done! Clap I applaud Plisson for doing the right thing!
Mistakes can/will happen ... it's how they're handled that earns my respect for a particular vendor/manufacturer.
