I fairly recently started reading this forum. One thing I notice is that there are at least several members of this forum who are also members of the badgerandblade forum. Given that, would it generally be considered inappropriate to post the same message here and on badgerandblade?

The reason I would want to is to get more points of view, but I know from being involved in other online forums that what is known as cross-posting can be very frowned upon. (Cross-posting = same message in different parts of the same forum.)

Thanks!

I think we're a little more tolerant here of some things, including cross-posting, than some other sites are. Posting on several forums in order to get a larger number of responses is fine.

Thanks! I would avoid doing multiple posts in different areas of the same forum, but would like to be able to post some messages or variations of them in the two different forums.

Great to be here!

Thanks again!

paul

I think it's perfectly acceptable for the most part. Although, I don't really see the need of doing it with every single generic post, but for things like a poll, a BST post, or possibly a well done review you worked on, I can see cross-posting for more exposure.

For the most part, I see no problem. I was a member on another site until recently and I used to copy and paste my Shave of the Day post from here to there or vice versa. It sure beat typing the same thing and uploading my photo two times.

There are some restrictions such as placing someone else's post from another forum directly on our site or posting copyrighted material. For what you are suggesting, though, you should be fine. Enjoy The Shave Nook.

Although I am a member of 3 forums at this time, IMHO, Shave Nook is #1 Biggrin.
The same posts may be made on several forums, but the best quality of responses are right here on TSN. Wink

If you wrote it, then you're more than welcome to put it where you want so long as it's not causing a disturbance. I see nothing wrong with posting the same post on multiple sites.

Thanks everyone. I would think it would be appropriate, but wanted to avoid anything frowned upon. I would certainly avoid doing it with any pointless posts, and try to avoid making any of those anywhere anyway. Onward!

YOU WANT TO DO WHAT????

Just kidding! This place is very accommodating. I too post on B&B and also on TOST. The Shave Nook is my home shave site. I usually post on individual threads. And my have only cross posted SOTD. Most of the threads I start are on here or TOST... Sometimes I get caught up here and go over to B&B to find different things that may not be here. B&B has been around much longer and has a larger membership. Sometimes things roll pretty fast over there. I'm a more laid back kind of guy...lol

The only time I make a duplicate post on another forum is when a sales thread doesn't achieve the intended result and requires another audience...

I used to cross post on here and on B&B, but since I asked B&B to close my account, I only write here these days.....

I sometimes - when inspired - also post on The Shave Den and on The Shaving Room, but I feel i get slightly better feedback here these days, and now seldom post on TSD & TSR.

I'll commonly post across multiple forums when it is about something of potentially wide interest or uncommon.

My thread on the 1905 Single Ring for example I posted EVERYWHERE to see if anybody knew more or had seen one, same with my 'nano' Wee Scot. What I then try to ensure that i do though is post a summative post in each so that every forum has a record of the new information collected.

I don't cross post the same thing, but I do post here and B&B. If I see the same question at both places I will only answer it here as this is what I consider my "home" shaving forum.
