I was looking for a shaving mug as a gift for my older brother. He doesn't have or use one, but that's about to change. When I saw this on the bay, I had to buy it, as he's a first time grandfather. So it seemed perfect. The shape looks good for a shave mug. The inward curvature at the top of the bowl prior to the flared rim might keep the lather from climbing out... and it looks easy to grip from either the handle or the bottom while mixing. The specs I have are 4" tall and 4" in diameter... so it's deeper than is practical, but the shape of the base might take a half inch off that depth. At best it'll work out well... at worst, well, I know he likes to drink coffee. What do you think?

I was able to make some nice lather in it as a test of suitability to purpose, but admittedly... it's a bit of a tight fit for ones fingers as the brush is swirled around. My brother is enjoying his coffee in it. I gave him my old soup bowl for just-in-case, and he's using that for his lather. The larger mouth works better. Oh well.
