I am not going to link this to a live auction on eBay but it can easily be found under "Feather Safety Razors".
Someone out of Thailand is advertising for sale what is supposed to be a Feather Portable sold in a blue case with Feather blades but its a fake. Feather of Japan stopped production of these wonderful razors years ago. This razor being sold on eBay does not even come close to looking like the original Portable. If you are tempted to buy it for $19.99 just remember its not the genuine thing.

As you can see there is very little resemblance from the real Feather and the fake. Feather never used a blue travel case it was clear plastic.

Sometimes these "fakes" can be diamonds in the rough.

However, looking at this one and you quickly realize that it will always be a lump of coal!

I guess the old adage 'If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is' applies here! Thanks for sharing this, Jerry ... buyer beware indeed ... EBay can be a dangerous place ... Confused

I'm always just a little anxious when buying anything on eBay. I worry especially about "vintage" high-end shaving brushes, which would be very easy to "restore" with a cheap knot and then present as original.

And just think 5 years ago Pauldog (from another forum) was selling them for $6.50 + shipping and he had a lot of sets. He even sold them for awhile on eBay. But they are all gone now. However, now and then someone will sell one.

Yes I speak with Paul a lot and he have only one handle left now. Timing is everything

Thanks guys.

Your comments are generous. I would rather see a razor used and appreciated than languish away in a drawer not being used. It was in there long enough that I had forgotten about it until I had a pull out a new puck of soap...

Sorry to derail your thread Jerry.
