Well, I'm looking to here what some of your top 3 straights are. I'm going to post mine in the A.M. when I figure it out. So, what are your top 3 shavers?

Other than aesthetics, the difference between razors that I find is minimal. Unless the razor is not good (which happens), in which case, that's a different story.

I find differences in the shaves that they provide. All honed by the same person, some razors seem to yield different results. I'll post my three in the morning when I look through them.

So, here's my top three. They are subject to change, though.

  1. H. Eicker & Sohne - 6/8 Microtome
  2. Parker 6/8
  3. Shumate - 6/8 Tungsten

I use 12 straight razors in my rotation, and all of them are top notch great razors to shave with so I'll be picking my favourite three on not just how they shave but the quality and finish of the razor, the first in line and I must say I've yet to see a better looking razor my Japanese Fon Golden Star 13/16, second up a rare Hishakaku folding Kamisori 6/8 another great shaver, third my 'G TOWA T' 7/8 never had a poor shave off this razor, but on saying that I really do rate and enjoy shaving with all my razors.

Jamie.

Great razors, Jaime. You got that Orion from aframestokyo.com, right? I hesitated on that one and then it was gone. I was kicking myself for that one. I also have a handful of Japanese razors.

Jamie, of all the razors you just posted, my favorite purely on looks, and because I shaved with one nearly 20-years ago, is your beautiful Double Duck.

My favorite happens to be the only one I have and that is my Feather Artist Club SS.

That's right Michael I did pick her up from aframestokyo, and was over the moon when the razor turned up, even though it says extra hollow ground actually the blade is a half or even a quarter hollow 13/16, still a great razor and a very beautiful blade and looks even better in hand. PS I have noticed 13/16 seems to be a very popular size with Japanese razors.

Jamie.

Yes, Japanese razors seem to be some of my best shavers.

Gentlemen,
I rotate 35 straight razors, in 5/8, 6/8 and 7/8, of various brands, including five Le Grelot and half a dozen majestic Sheffields. I love each razor for its special characteristics. For some reason I have a special fondness for three of my 5/8 blades: LouPer, Fritz Bracht Tennis, and Bohlerstahl. Can't explain it. These are great razors, as are my other blades, but something about these three wears especially sweet on me. And I have honed them to perfection — for me.

I'd be happy to take them off your hands.

I am negotiating getting another identical to the first and a 13/16 version of it, as well.

Normally I would, but the plastic has shrunk over the years, so the blades don't exactly fit anymore.
