Considering the 2011 Barley or ivory hexagonal to replace a broken DE89L. Any suggestions? Does the hex handle on the ivory make it more grippy than the older smooth ivory handle?

It has a little more grip but not as nice as the barley chrome ones.

Barley looks really nice. Muhle R89 is also the same head. Nice handle there as well.

I agree re the Barley. Great looking, and with the Muhle head next to the R41 they make a great looking pair. Brothers in arms, you could call them.

I have had no problem with the grip of a Barley. If you do, dab your fingers on an alum and Hey Presto! Grippy.

I have a EJ Chatsworth barley, don't know if that's the one your talking about but it has a very good grip imo
