So I feel I must post about this. Usually my shaves are decent, but my oh my this mornings shave was something else. I started with a hot shower while I soaked my Semogue SOC brush along with the Mikes Lemongrass and Euaclyptus sample that I received with a recent order of the Lavender and Orange Cedarwood and Black Pepper. After the shower, I used Proraso Pre/Post Cream and let it sit while I whipped up my lather. The little sample bar was not the easiest thing to lather but once I got it loaded it whipped up quite nicely in the bowl I use to lather with. First impressions are man the scent of this soap is amazing. After 3 passes using the 34C and a Gillette 7 o clock yellow I touched up and had a nice BBS shave. Usually get a BBS on my neck is impossible, but with some new techniques of stretching the skin along with shaving in towards my adams apple on the second pass has helped. I then applied a small amount of Floid Blue that I received from a purchase from churchhill on here. I have to say the Floid is great. I can see why some on here rave about it. It was the first time I have ever tried it and I have to say if this stuff ever mentions going out of stock again that I will obtain a stockpile of it. Just a little rant, but it's amazing how we feel after great shaves. A little over a month into this and I am loving it even more now than ever.

Also, does anyome else on here just use a blade once? I have such a thick dense beard I feel like the first shave is always the best with these blades.

With DE blades, yes I did. Thin, flexible ribbons of steel aren't always capable of delivering a smooth shave when they encounter a very stiff whisker. The resulting collision causes the blade to vibrate/chatter and this can lead to weepers and irritation. You may be suited to give the thicker & stiffer SE blades a try in a nice Gem or EverReady razor. 1-2 shaves from a DE blade for me, but with SEs I easily get double digit uses.

That perfect shave is one of the most relaxing/enjoyable things that I can think of. No better way to start a day.

I usually start getting better shaves on uses 2-4 from the blades I use. (Polsiver SI, Gillette Blues, Greens and Blacks). The yellows are not as good for me so I don't use them anymore.

Good to hear. It looks like you are acquiring sound prep principals. I for the most part get great shaves. Especially since switching to Single Edge razors. It's all about prep, angle, pressure. When it all comes together it's AWESOME..... Happy Shaves!!!

It's nice to read about it coming together. Even better for you that it did!

And it'll just keep getting better, and better.
