I must have about seventy soaps, that's just an estimate, I might have more. I've gotten rid of a some soaps and used a few as bath soaps in the past trying to thin out the den. It seems like every time I try to pick out soaps to sell I just can't do it. As much as I'll say to myself that I don't need this one, I just can't bring myself to sell. I'm going to go to my stash tonight and see if I can get rid of ten, at least. *Fingers crossed* I hope I can part with some, I'm thinking of some of my Italian almond scented ones. Well, wish me luck, people. I'll need it.

I have not anywhere close to you and it took me at least 5 minutes trying to pick out what I was using tonight. Dodgy

I feel as though I'm getting to this stage, and it makes me happy. I felt a little out of control for a while. It's feels good to settle with what you like.

That describes my situation as well. I just checked my spread sheet and I have 57 soaps & creams (86 counting duplicates!) and 27 samples (mostly the generous Mikes & Mystic Waters samples). I too try to pick some out to sell, but always seem to find some reason not to, such as wanting to give a soap another chance, or not quite remembering how good or bad it was (since it was so long ago that I used it).

So far I can only come up with 3 different products to get rid of, and two of those are so cheap as to hardly be worth selling unless I come up with a bigger lot.

With RazoRock coming up with even more new creams, I know I'll fall for some of those. And so it continues...

Seventy is impressive! You must have a very, very large shave den!!

"Stick with the stuff that I like"

This is the problem.. I like everything!! I'm definitely going to try and reduce the den. I think I'll just be sticking with artisan soaps and D.R. Harris soaps.

I think about 75% of my soaps are artisan makers. Sad

I can relate and I only have less than half of what you have. I've called a halt to acquiring more (awhile back) and am in the process of using things up to get an idea of just how much I do have. It's alot.

My problem is the same as yours; in that I even like the soaps I'm moving out of the cabinet. Even the lesser soaps have value, they give weight to the really good soaps. Maybe I'm weird, but I'm going to miss the lesser soaps because it will give me no rest from the really good ones. If one experinces nothing but gold, one loses perspective IMO. I'll miss them, but they need to get out of my cabinet.

You guys don't have a problem at all, you just have eclectic taste!

Head over to the high end watch forums and see the guys with 100+ watches that start at 5K. Still, that's all cool too.

Seriously; if it makes you happy, you can afford it and all of your bills and your family are taken care of, what's the dilemma?! Biggrin

Missing from the photo is three tubs of yardley and one old spice soap in mug. Here is a pic.

I just finished counting and I counted eighty-five. That's not including the four vintage soaps that aren't pictured, seven or eight tubes of cream and two soaps I'm selling, and four soaps that will be used in the shower. God help me.

I got eighty-one, or easily over $1000 in shaving soap at new pricing. I definitely am not going to do this to myself as I would kick myself after I figure out how much money I have spent on soaps, aftershaves, razors, brushes, etc.

My main concern is shelf life. I know they would perform exactly after 2,3 or more years, but what about scents? Some go dry and having that much, I would prefer use a fresh one instead of re-hydrating one.

Also some have expiration dates, I was using an expired Godrej which was just OK, then I realized that and tried a fresh one...it was like day and night

Picking one soap and choosing to use it exclusively until it is done is a terrific cure for hoarding.
