So I'm thinking of getting a Gem and am looking at a Pushbutton, Contour or Featherweight. However, I know nothing of them so am at a lose at which one to go for.

Any insights/hints/tips would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance and enjoy those shaves

All 3 are great intros into SEs. I would personally recommend the Feather Weight.

The bullet tip aka flying wing was recommended to me as the mildest of the bunch. I have just started using mine and am enjoying it. You might consider adding it to your list.

Of the three you mention, the pushbutton is a nice introduction to SE shaving. It is fairly mild and forgiving yet aggressive enough to know you're getting things done. The micromatic family of Gems are the cream of the crop as far as I am concerned, although they require a more refined technique as they are more aggressive and much less forgiving than the pushbutton. Of course YMMV. Good luck in your search!

Any of the three you mentioned are among the milder SE razors, all are the slightly more modern ones. Any would be fine, just keep in mind that the angle is different than a DE razor, especially while you're learning. If you watch this video, you'll see how to do it even though he's discussing a significantly more aggressive type of SE:

SE shaving is great once you get the hang of it!

Dittos what's been said regarding beginner razors. My choice would be the FeatherWeight only because I know the razor. It's pretty much bulletproof. Not that I've heard anything bad about the others.

Come to think of it Brian, I haven't seen any posts anywhere by MG for what seems like months.

Honestly, there will be very little difference in the shave you get from any of those three models. You should be able to get one on the bay for less than $10 shipped.
