Hello people. I am new to your forum, but not new to fora in general. I am a member of various forums dedicated to edged tools and try to use the same screen name at all of them.

i started experimenting with wetshaving about a year ago after walking into an AOS and having someone there help me out with a basic set. I ended up with a Dovo shavette, a Merkur trimmer/shaper, a badger brush, and some AOS lemon preshave, cream, and aftershave balm.

I have found that the Dovo is pretty easy to use and have gotten some good shaves without having too much irritation. My problem is that the straight can be a little difficult to maneuver around the neck, and I sometimes end up reaching for one of my lady's disposables to handle it. That led me to start researching safety razors. Now I am in the market for my first safety razor and am currently between a Merkur 34c, the Jagger 89, a Weber, or an Ikon.

I believe forums are great places to learn and build relationships as long as people conduct themselves with character and integrity.

If anyone has interest in gadgets, gear, or custom knives, feel free to contact me as I am as deeply invested in those areas as many of you are in this one.

Best regards,

Jason

Thanks for the welcome, people, though I don't know that my knowledge base can help anyone here at this point. Not unless you have an interest in custom tactical folding knives, or other types of miscellaneous handmade gadgetry. :)

Welcome to The Shave Nook Jason. We are never to young or old to learn something from each other.

I like this quote.

"I believe forums are great places to learn and build relationships as long as people conduct themselves with character and integrity".

Thanks, Johnny. I'm actually a high school teacher, so I agree with you.

But it'll be a while before I feel comfortable trying to teach anyone about shaving. ;)

However, I have access to a LARGE community of creative and highly skilled machinists, so I'm hoping I can offer some of them an incentive to try turning their own razor handles.

It would be nice to have more custom options.
