I am going to order a Duke 3 colored handle. I am not sure what hair to get.
I never used Simpson silvertip. I have a Chubby 2 and a Duke 2 in best badger which I like. Any thoughts would be great.

I have never tried Simpson's 3-band, but their two-band is fantastic. Considering how good their best is, I'd go for two-band.

Their "best" is excellent. Asthetically speaking only, I think a butterscotch handle and two-band (black on orange) is just about perfect.

Normally, any discussion about "what hair grade to get" hinges on how you do your thing: face or bowl lather? Creams or soaps? However, if you're looking at best, super, silvertip, or two-band, in my experience the only one of those grades that "needs" any particular style would be two-band. Those are better used on hard soaps as they are more resilient, although they can be used for any style or product.

I haven't used their 3 band super, which is called Silvertip on their custom brushes. That said, I've heard it said by others that because their best grade is so good, that the difference between best and silvertip is not necessarily worth the price bump. I have several 2-band super brushes from them and they are all wonderful.

I have the 3-Band(used today) and love it. The "Best" hair from Simpson is superb also and easily comparable to many others' Silvertip grade.

If you already have a couple of brushes in Best, go with one of the other grades. Their 2-band is great. The 3-band super is just that - super. I don't think you can go wrong. If it's a Duke you are ordering, I would say go with either the 2-band or Manchurian to make into a face lathering beast.

If you definitely want to try their "super" grade, go with the 2-band; it is great. However, the 3-band is, IMHO, a great disappointment because it is not much different than the best hair, but is twice the price. Go with the 2-band.
