Hi,

Last two weeks and another 6 weeks are the most busy weeks I had/have during whole year, therefore I apologise for not attending lately so often so I felt I need to create this thread as I was truly amazed by that small but mighty razor.

Back o subject

I recently acquired this razor thanks to pure awesomeness and generosity of superb TSN member Dale. Kudos for him Number_one.

Set up:

Speick Soap(wash face)
GFT Coral skin Food
KMF Cool mint
Simpson Custom made Ehsan
Feather Portable w/ Meds Prep(1)
Assisted by ER Streamline with GEM SS (2)
KFBR

So you know I am LOSER and I dont use almost DE anymore besides Muhle R41 2010' ( on loan to my norwegian friend) and Gillette No.58. Now this little thing shaved better almost mind you almost them my beloved Ever Ready Streamline. I need it at first pass help at chin area( I will master it with Feather soon) as I felt is only pulling my hairs( 4 days grown) but rest was so effortless I was not even sure I am shaving, only to discover hairs on razor rather then on face. Either way a DFS almost BBS as I didnt want to risk on first use of razor.

I was speechless. This is razor to have in a den my friends! if you have this razor please take it out from box and used to rediscover it or if you dont like it I will buy it from youBiggrinBiggrin

This is definitely going with me to China for one month, where I will travel through almost whole country!

Anybody who would like to discuss this razor please feel free, also please write here if you have one as I want see how many of us have it:

1. Jack(celar36)
2.

PS. I am really tempted to buy D1 or D2, but which one? help pleaseSmile

If I would have known Dale had that, it would have never made it to the UK. That was very lucky for you and very nice of Dale. Nice little razor.

If I were going to buy a new stainless, it would be the A1-D2.

Glad it got to you in one piece. I hope that you enjoy many fine shaves with it.

That was the first razor where things clicked for me. I used it for about 6 months on a fat handle from a Gillette Tech. Back when they were readily available, I picked up a handful of them and used them to introduce some friends to DE razors.

I was lucky enough to get one of these from a member on another forum. It's an excellent razor, such a shame they don't make them anymore. Sadly, it makes me want to try the AS-D2... Undecided

I know, I am tempted also Smile

Now about the shave:

BBS in 2 passes WTG and XTG. Should finish here but......

I was tempted to go for touch up for double check. Yes I found some maybe 3 hairs left. But this pass cause me few small needle size weepers and irritation.

First DE shave in long time and conclusion is:

1. Stop when is excellent dont push for perfect.
2. Best DE razor for me up to date
3. Closest DE shave ever, even considering weepers. Use to have them more.

I think I move to SE due lack(or bit of irritation SE gives me while achieving DFS or BBS.

Lesson Learnt:

Remember the feather blades bites if you not super careful and yet you forgot.

Thank to a fine member of TSN, who was kind enough to pass this razor to me!

Why did Feather ever stop making these wonderful razors?

I wonder if they stopped so as not to be in competition with their all stainless models. I suspect the profit margin on the AS-D2 is much larger than it was on the portable or even the popular. It is a shame, maybe we should all email Feather and ask them to start production again?

Jack - It's nice that you are using it rather than letting it languish in a drawer like it was here. I'm glad that you have it and are enjoying the razor.

They probably weren't profitable any more. If they were making money on them, then I'm thinking they would still be in production.

Thank you again for itSmile

It was way undervalued razor. Its a shame is no longer easy to acquire it! You need to be luck or get it via great people.

A naive question: it looks a lot like a tech, is the shave difference that big?

Slightly worrying for me as L.O.S.E.R. I shaved today with my beloved Streamline and came to conclusion Feather was far better.....

Hmmm I need deep rethink now. I will do next 2 Streamline shaves and then 2 Feather ones.

FEATHER 1 VS STREAMLINE 0

I bought a Tech recently and I would agree. For two razors that look very much the same, the shave is noticeably different.
