I'm looking to purchase a chunk of Antica Barbieria Colla Bitter Almond shaving soap. If you have any extra to spare please send me a PM. Thanks.

I am thinking of making a purchase direct from the company in Milan. It comes in kilos. If you or anyone else is interested in sharing, PM me and lets see what we can do.

Michael

Michael, just so you're not actually expecting a Kilo which would be 1000 grams... It would be much better to think of it as being just a block. It might be 1000ml, but I had no way to measure that. Then too, the block might have weighed 1k when fresh and it might have lost water through evaporation as it aged. Again I don't know.

The block I split up was, if memory serves, 860 some odd grams.

Thanks Brian for the info. How is it shaped? Square block or a rectangular block? Also, how many pieces were you able to "fairly" separate it into? Please advise.

Thanks!
Michael

I was close with 860 grams... I went with 860 grams to figure for the poly wrapper. The picture also shows the shape. They don't have retail packaging for it, but they do it up right in the shipping box.

I split the block with another gent. It would have made 7 decent tubs at about 125 grams each. When we ordered we ordered 2 blocks to share the shipping, and I highly reccommend that since the 2nd block shipped at no additional cost. I dodn't remember what the other block weighed since I never even opened its packaging. I seem to remember it being slightly lighter, but not by much. But still anything over 100 grams is a nice tub.

It's well worth doing IMO. Even if you don't have people lined up waiting for the ABCBA, I doubt you'll have any problem selling it. It's really nice stuff. IMO, a classier, more refined almond scent than P.160 and a bit better in after the shave skin feel. It's been awhile since I've used it, but it might lather slightly easier, and shave performance is excellent, as is the performance of P.160. I doubt anyone would be disappointed.

I know this thread is somewhat old, but is this still available for a split? I know another gent who is willing as well. Also, how does this perform as compared to Boellis Panama 1924?

Let me know...PM me the details...

I am sorry, but my two kilos are completely spoken for. The process of ordering and splitting up went remarkably easy, so I will consider doing it again.

Not that bad if you can get 15+ tubs from it.

Yeah, IIRC the total cost of a single block shipped was $114 & change. I'm just not sure how much of a difference shipping 2 blocks is.

The second block is virtually free shipping from the manufacturer to the States since it fits up to 2 kilos usually. I used my portion this morning for a fabulous shave comparable to Boellis Panama and MdC hands down. Scent is comparable, but more subdued.

Suddenly $115 plus shipping doesn't seem so expensive anymore! Heart

A have a question for you guys.

One of my soap maker friends in Italy makes the ABCBA soap.

Do you think there would be any interest if I brought the soap in and sold it for $29.99 for 1000ml, under the RazoRock Brand?

Let me know...
