Okay, so we all discuss our soaps and creams and blades and toys and whatnot. But what else really makes your shave? Do you have a cup of coffee? A drink (what kind)? Music (again, what kind)? Let us know!

For myself, if shaving in the morning, I love to have a nice cup of coffee (black). If shaving in the evening, I'll often have a glass of scotch or good gin and listen to blues or classic jazz. Yes, audible feedback is important, but sometimes nothing makes the shave like good music and a good drink.

I shave right before bed and usually have a cup of ice water and often listen to music streamed on my phone....either jazz, bluegrass or zydeco.

Music ... always! Biggrin

Usually jazz or classical, played softly so I can hear myself shaving! Smile

Good question!

Absolutely nothing. Pure silence and the shave is a meditative experience for me.

On weekdays I get up earlier than my wife and kids (except the baby sometimes) purposely to enjoy a nice quiet shave. Before shaving, though, I head downstairs to feed and let the dog out and make coffee. A nice hot cup of black coffee compliments the shave very nicely. I also grab a fresh hand towel on the way into the bathroom to wipe away the lather from my lips to avoid contaminating the wonderful black elixir. On the weekends when I sleep in I welcome the company of the wife or my daughters and they watch me try not to cut up my face with one of my replaceable blade straights. Occasionally my older daughter will grab a brush and join in the lather and recently my one year old has enjoyed playing with the "community" brush as well (Dad's premium brushes are no-touch items).

Thanks Ravi. My 11 year old is pretty cute too, but she won't let me take a picture of her lathered up in fear that I will show her friends. The amazing thing about Ava (baby) is that she will swirl the brush on her face and on my face when I'm holding her. She totally gets it and even humors Dad by smelling the soap or cream when I hold it up to her face.

Sorry to derail the thread, back to our rituals.

I don't have any music or other background sound because I like the meditative quiet when I'm shaving in the morning. It helps to get my day started right. I do like to have a cup of coffee, for sips between razor passes and while the aftershave dries down. On Sundays it's freshly ground Kona.

>>>>>>The perfect shave towel <<<<<<<<<

Other than that, just quiet. It's my time to think what I wish, but most times just to immerse myself in the lather and the sound and feel of the lather, brush, and razor.

But I really enjoy my perfect "towel". I use it in the winter to hold hot water on the face, and afterward to wipe off the soap. After that, wrung out in good shape it becomes a towel and soaks up any water.

AM post-shave: day's pick from favorite AS's, cuppa Columbian; straight-up, mellow pipeful of Bob's Chocolate Flake.

Wake up, make coffee, drink a cup of coffee while turning on the computer and logging in. Go get scuttle to fill with hot water and brush to soak. Drink another cup of coffee. Empty and refill scuttle with hot water and head to the bathroom. Shut door, lock door, start hot water. Everything else is just the shave routine. About 30-minutes of just me, myself, and I.

Silence is golden.

I like it quiet, as I like the razor feedback. I even shut the phone off because it never fails to ring just when I'm all lathered up.

I have a couple of shave time agendas that I very much enjoy. I'm looking forward to the warmer days ahead when i can sit on my patio and have a relaxing shave early in the morning. I also like the whole bathtub soak with lotions and potions shave. Both make me quite happy Biggrin

I like quiet. It's about the only time all day that I get to enjoy silence.

I sometimes fire up some music. I have speakers in our master bath (not my doing: we benefited from the collapse of the real estate market), and I'll pipe in a CD--these days, usually trumpet jazz.
