I have a Tulip 2 and a Chubby 2 and they have two very different knots and was wondering how the different Simpson brushes differ in density and loft, say between a Tulip 2 vs Persian Jar 2 or a Duke 2 vs Polo 2?

Does every type have it's own characteristic density and loft?

I'm not thinking about the differences in hair grades.

I have about ten Simpsons and they are all very different in terms of softness, density, backbone, fan/bulb, handle feel/ergonomics, etc. I think my favourite face-feel Simpson is the Rover, but it's a bit of a shedder, painfully. The Commodore 1 is also tremendously soft and lathers beautifully. I still can't get a good result from the Chubby 2, though. I think it's just too dense, really. I will persist. I like them all. My only real complaint is the Case which looks like it had a fight with a barber, and lost. Lathers well, though Smile

It real also depends on the hair grade: best, Super, 2 Band, Manchurian...
Individual brush lofts and diameters may also vary...
Lots of variables at play...
The denser offerings are Chubby, Tulip, Duke, Polo... In my experience...

Classic's dense as Chubby/Duke/Polo, German (though smaller than Chubby/Polo), & being rather short lofted further emphasizes its density.
