I've always found that making introductions - just like making small talk - to be difficult. Perhaps it's because I'm a Norwegian, perhaps it's just me... at any rate, I've been peeking in at this forum for a few weeks, and signed up a few days ago - I figured it was time to say hello.

A bit about myself? Well, as mentioned I'm Norwegian. I'm also career military, which explains (at least in part) my online handle. I had been shaving for close to twenty years before I switched to a DE razor... well, I said shaving. I meant "scraping or pulling hair of my face". I tried multiple electric shavers from several brands, I struggled along with a cartridge razor and grumbled over the cost of replacement blades. The foam-in-a-can thing I never got the hang of, so I switched to cream and brush* less than a year after I started shaving. In short, shaving was something I had to do, not something I looked forward to.

Then about two years ago - as I was gearing up for a 12 month deployment as an UN observer in Sudan - my better half suggested I look into that old fashioned razor craze... after all, DE blades might be easier to find in deepest Africa. So I thought about it, I browsed a number of shaving blogs and forums... and I decided to give it a go. Never looked back after that - my old cartridge razor is gathering dust. And best of all; I'm looking forward to my shaves now!

Like any geek with a new hobby I couldn't just have a razor, one brush and a single soap though... my collection keeps growing, slowly but surely. Right now I got three razors (the fourth is in the mail), five brushes, six soaps / creams / sticks (and a seventh in the mail), enough blades to last me several years and various other gear. Good thing my better half is understanding and supportive Biggrin

So, uhm, yeah. I guess that was my way of saying Hello...

*) Both from Body Shop - not the best, but not bad either. Their newer brushes are better though.

Welcome! It's funny how that happens, isn't it? I've been wet shaving for about 3 months, and already have so much gear that the only other thing I'll need for my next 2 years worth of shaves is hot water. Of course that won't stop me from buying more stuff...............

It's great to have you in the Nook! Please don't think you'll get any AD treatment here. We are all a bunch of enablers following the lead of the head enabler, Phil!

So, get more brushes, razors, soaps, creams. Have fun! We'll look forward to your posts!
