Has anyone tried these blades? Supposedly they are made in Turkey by Derby but, these are no Derbies! I recently received a pack to test out and I am very impressed. I cannot comment on durability yet as I am only a few shaves in but...they are sharp and smooth and seem (to me) to have a bit less flex than the typical DE blades. A nice blade indeed!

I received a sample pack of them from NT_Guy a couple years ago, but haven't used them since. I remember them being tuggy and not overly pleasant. My technique, kit, and tastes have changed as well so I have no idea what I would think today.

I've tried them and don't care for them. I got a decent shave from them but there was alot of pulling, tugging and discomfort. Not for me.

Maybe it acts differently depending on which razor you use.I have only tried it in a Merkur Progress and it works great in that razor.

That's why we have the phrase "YMMV" I guess. I tried the blades in a Gillette New, an EJ DE87 and my Weber DLC. Just couldn't get them to work like I wanted.

Glad they work for you though

Definitely. I need to try it in a few different razors before I reach a conclusion on what I think of them. I will test them out over the next few weeks.

Phil, I just checked my notes, and In my Slim set to 9 I gave them very high marks for being smooth and sharp.

I wonder if there are QC issues with them, because what I tested and what others experienced are very different. I haven't tested them since. I just checked; I can't retest them. I probably PIFed them.

I tried a pack about 2 yrs. ago. I seem to remember them as being short lived (2-3 shaves) and a little "tuggy." That would've been in a 38C, EJ89, and Slim.

Not terrible, not great, not memorable one way or the other.

I tried them a few years ago and was impressed. There wasn't any vendors that I use that stock them so I moved on to other blades. They seemed to be similar to Voskhod and Red Personna's if my memory serves.

That is the issue. The only place I have found them is Ebay.

I tried them and still have a few left. Similar in performance to Red Personnas. Not many vendors had them then either.

I think I remember being pleasantly surprised by them, and actually like the Crystal blades (Israeli Personna) as well. As above, my technique has drastically changed on all fronts from shaving, to lather production, to tallow love, so I might need to revisit and see what the new take on them might be. This stuff is fun, isn't it?

I stopped using them because of their tugging/pulling. Was not impressed over the long haul. Sometimes I got a good one, so it may have been a QC issue. But this was a few years ago - maybe they improved.

I have good memories of these blades, smooth shaves. Are you planning on carrying them Phil?

It does seem as if there is a lot of variability between blades which explains the different experiences. I loaded a fresh Bluebird blade in my Progress this morning and had to switch razors after a few strokes. For whatever reason, this blade pulled and tugged terribly. I switched to a Futur with an Iridium and it was Night and Day...like a hot knife through butter.

I have now used two blades from my pack of Bluebird blades...the first blade was great but the 2nd was a dud.

Phil, I have never tried them but virtually every review here is what I had seen before elsewhere. Most found them bad, especially in the pulling/tugging department, with a few folks singing their praises. I decided that there were enough other brands out there that I like not to take a chance on these.

Jeff (Shanman), if the Bluebirds are like the Crystals then that really would be the kiss of death for these blades, as far as I'm concerned, because those are blades that just never really worked for me.

Frankly, these types of discussions are what make The Shave Nook such a valuable resource to me.
