Problem: Extra time needed for hot towel application pre-shave. Second problem need to lie down after application of a hot towel. There is always the chance of falling back asleep.I have come up with a rather innovative shaving device and am willing to share it with the group.
Simply put it is a design for a wearable hot towel. I dampen the towel and place it in the microwave for 40 seconds before putting it on. The towel will work as well by soaking it in hot water then ringing it out before affixing it to your face.
The advantage is obvious. Your hands remain free toperform all your other morning rituals (except brushing you teeth).
While your beard softens.
Simply take a piece of terry cloth and cut it to the demensions in the photo. Seam up the 4 sides to prevent unravelling. Next afix Velcro straps to all 4 corners. If desired one can use elastic or cloth straps as well.

It is a good idea, but is the towel large enough?

Actually, what I have done lately is to sew too of them together doubling the thickness. The extra thickness helps the towel retain heat longer. As far as the demensions I made it to fit my face. Change the demensions as much as you need to for your individual needs.

Hello Barrylu,

I think professional barbers use hot towels, because it gives
a better shave to the clients. Off course it is also very comfortable and relaxing. There is a manual on the internet,
how to heat them in a microwave and they even use a bit of menthol (scent). Very interesting to read!
Kind regards,
Frans

I never saw those Shav-a -Towels before. Truthfully, what gave me the idea was former employment in the funeral industry. When doing a removal we would tie a rag under the deceased chin and tie it to the top of the head. This would insure that the jaw remained closed during transport. I got to remember it while lying on my bed while wearing a hot towel.
