Gentlemen, here is a quick photo of the shave den counter in transition. The soap cave (not shown) is in an open closet to the right of the counter. Thanks for looking.

Thanks, my friend. I have four razors on the way, two NOS, and several razors are in my office to hone. That's why I have to move things around. The soaps and creams are kept in the Soap Cave, the open closet next to the counter (not shown in my quick photo), and brought out individually for the day's shave. Oh, what fun.

I seem to remember a picture from about a year ago that showed a whole lot more stuff than that. You have been doing some clearing out.

Yes, Johnny, I did quite a bit of cleaning and thinning, because I was running out of room. This way, with the soap cave in the open closet, things are more manageable.

Very nice!
Did you custom make the racks against the backsplash? The cutouts seem the perfect size/shape for straights.

That nice looking SWK Scuttle and Soap Dish are now setting on my counter. It's what you see in my SOTD pictures.

Yes, the racks were custom made for me. They stand free, however, each holding 12 razors. One of these days I'll have to stain them. The other smaller racks are metal tooth brush holders that work perfectly for straight razors, except for the really big Sheffield blades. The DE razors fits nicely in them, too.

Yeah - I have some of the toothbrush holders but as you said they don't work for some larger blades.
I really like those racks. If they were sold over the counter, I would definitely pick up a few. They look great natural as is and I'm sure they'll look nice with a stain on them as well.

Thanks, Johnny. The racks are life savers. I might use a warm mahogany stain. I have two multi-hole smoking pipe stands modified for razors and keep them in the Soap Cave.

Gentlemen,
Thank you for the kind words. Yes, the shave den is almost there. I have three straight razors on the way, and several that are sold on the way out. Sometime this month I should be done — for now, anyway — and will post another photo. Oh what fun!

Wonderful Obie!

I've embarked on my own mission to downsize too, but my enthusiasm for it is waning...
